Today, I visited Nu-Wave Salon today for the very first time. Karen was so welcoming and very attentive to what I was looking for! Her salon was super clean and very relaxing. It was evident that Karen is well experienced and dedicated to her clients. I always struggle finding a hair salon that does exactly what I am looking for in a hair style/coloring. Today, I visited Nu-Wave Salon today for the very first time. Karen was so welcoming and very attentive to what I was looking for! Her salon was super clean and very relaxing. It was evident that Karen is well experienced and dedicated to her clients. I will definitely be returning to her, and highly recommend her services to anyone seeking a professional and excellent stylist!

Critical: Professionalism, QualityWhile my haircut was fine, my experience was not…getting an appointment was nearly impossible and you could tell the owner was frustrated when I said I had a Groupon. She only takes one Groupon appointment a day so the options were extremely limited.The moment I walked in, I was spoken to in a rude manner as I was criticized for bringing a physical copy of the Groupon voucher, as opposed to an electronic one. No where on the Groupon ad (or when I made the appointment over the phone) did it say you must have the app downloaded on your phone for redemption.Once the cut started, I was asked to brush out my own hair…never once have I been asked to do that in all my years getting a haircut. Part of what you pay for is the service, it’s not my own job to brush out my hair? The partial highlight portion was fine (although I was grossed out when she held one of the foil pieces in her mouth before placing it on my head – especially with COVID) but then when it came time to the cut, I was asked to stand up in order for her to cut my hair…again, I’ve never been asked to do that before so that was strange to me. The cut was quick and honestly, not what I really asked for but the owner was already so frustrated that I didn’t bother to say anything.After the cut, she explained to me that my hair was long (it is?? It went probably 3 inches past my shoulders) and that she wouldn’t be able to blow dry it since she usually charges extra for “long hair.” WHAT?! Again, nothing on Groupon mentioned anything about additional charges for hair length. And that’s what happened…she blew out my hair for about three mins and then asked if that was OK…again, I have never once in my life been told they couldn’t complete every step of a haircut. I explained that the package included a wash, cut, blow, and highlights so I expected my hair to be blown out completely. I wasn’t leaving with a wet head…so instead of finishing what I had paid for, she asked HER FRIEND that was there to blow out my hair and moved me to another chair…I could not believe it.In addition to the overall experience, conversation made was minimal, which was awkward in itself. Usually stylists try to make small talk. She even stopped and stepped away to take a call as she was washing my hair. She talked to her friend that was there more than me, which I just found rude.
