In early January, I purchased and booked a massage. On the day of my first scheduled appointment, which I took a vacation day from work for, I received a text message that said my appointment was canceled. Luckily, I saw the text message since he didn’t contact me in a way that would confirm I got the message. I rescheduled for a different day and the same thing happened again. Come the day of, I received a text message saying my appointment was canceled again. So I rescheduled another time and the same thing happened again. After the 3rd cancelation, I messaged him saying that “I was disappointed with his reliability” because he canceled on me 3 times already. He messaged back saying “this isn’t a how they normally do business” so I attempted to to schedule a 4th time, though it has already been over 50 days since my original appointment. He saw that I was scheduled and canceled on me because he said he didn’t like that I was judging how reliable he was before meeting him in person and he didn’t feel he wanted to do business with me. Instead of telling me he didn’t want to do business with me in the message he sent me after the 3rd canceled appointment, he let me move things around my schedule and schedule for a 4th time before canceling it because he didn’t like that I was disappointed in his reliability.

At first I was quite nervous about what the experience was going to be like given the hospital setting, Novi Spa is located inside a suite at the Mount Carmel East complex. After seeing Scott for about 6 months now, I can say those fears were unwarranted. I think Scott does a great job of individualizing your experience to what your individual body needs. After visiting several chains over the years where the intake form seemed nothing more than paperwork, Novi Spa took my concerns and designed a massage to respond to those issues. Appointment after appointment, Scott recalled my preferences and integrated those into the massage. A secondary benefit, is Novi Spa while relaxing, clearly is also targeting long-term improvement through their techniques (a side effect of being in a hospital setting I suppose). I feel like that certainly brings more value to what can normally feel like an indulgence.

I love this place. It is very nice and clean. Scott is kind and very professional. Also, he is very good at working with kids. One of my children plays the violin, so her shoulders and neck always are very tense and Scott’s massages relieves all that tension. I highly recommend Scott’s massages.

Critical: Communication, ProfessionalismCompletely terrible experience all around.Called originally on July 28 to book, didn’t get called back until August 2nd because he was on vacation. Okay cool no big deal live your best life. So on August 2nd we book for August 17 at 2pm. I take time off of work. Get ready, drive 25 minutes there, and struggle to find the address listed on the Groupon. Call him several times,, straight to vm for Groupon number. Find it, go in lobby and no mention on sign of what his suite number is nor on Groupon. Google it, luckily that says. Go to the suite, no sign on door, door is locked and no one answers. Call him on the Google number available, it rings but no answer. Text both numbers then get a “i didn’t have your number on file” and “email was blocked”… aren’t you supposed to log those things when you book customers? Or look back in your call log and get my number that way? Instead of not notifying me at all, knowing you had an appt at 2p but still ignoring calls and not showing up. Soooo got ready, missed time at work, drove 25 min each way and waited around on him for 15 minutes. By far the worst experience and most unprofessional experience I’ve ever encountered.Also he didn’t even attempt to save things with a “so sorry about that, im sick right now but when would work for you after a couple weeks?” Or “I’m so sorry I wasted your time and failed to write down basic info incase of a situation like this and make you waste over an hour of your time and miss work for litterly no reason, if you’re willing to still give me a try I can do 90 minutes instead for the inconvenience “, nothing at all. Then tries to say “I left no number” and blame me even though I gave it to him on our 6 minute phone call, plus had he even tried to look back in his call logs or recheck his voice-mails he could have got my number that way.
