I love this shop the ladies are welcoming and sweet. You can show them the style or tell them what you want and how you like them to do it and they do it. You will enjoy the service and the prices. And a little plus it’s not really time consuming once they get started in your hair you can be done in 3hrs getting a normal 7 hour braided style

This is my third time coming to this shop to get my hair braided. I tried a style that I saw on someone else. “Erre” the Braider was able to execute it better than the actual style I saw. I’ve received so much compliments on the style that I will be doing this again. They have been friendly and quick with the service. I have to say the customers that come in are never the friendliest and are sometimes aggressive to the workers. I have to commend them on their tolerance with the outside behavior I’ve witnessed each time being there.

Their greeting of customers when they walk in the door is very good, and asking you what you want done to your hair. There is not a lot of customers sitting around waiting. They try to get you in and out. I went to the shop once before.

The braiders do a good job on the styles they are experts on box braids, knotless, bantu knots, corn row styles etc. However, the customer service needs lots of work. Yesterday, I went to get bantu knots the lady who did them put in a lot of work and time on my style and I love them. She also did my hair previously in a beautiful long braided corn row style. Loved it. However, the customer service is not good in my opinion. First of all, after my hair was braided I had to find who to pay. The owner asked me ‘what price was I quoted?’ I told her the price, but I think personally they should already know the price and not ask the customer what price was quoted to them. Then because I appreciate the work they do (I know it can be challenging doing braid work with standing up on your feet, doing the same styles over and over again)I gave a tip of $10. The owner had her daughter take the tip, but she(the daughter) had an attitude. Instead of saying “Thank you, please return we appreciate your business” she was like, “uh huh” when I gave her the tip. Then before that, after my braider completed my style, they had another young lady come to do my edges(at my request). The person just approached me, no greetings of “hi” or anything I didn’t even know she was the one who would do my edges. In my opinion, the vibes I picked up from her were of an ‘attitude’ nature and not a positive one at that. Another issue I have is, I am very proud of my African heritage, yes I’m ‘American,’ but I love exploring other African hairstyles not just long braids. I felt the ladies had an attitude because I ”dare’ chose a traditional and cultural style. I need a braiding shop (if I don’t learn to just do styles myself)where I am welcomed, the energy is positive and they encourage customers who wish to ‘venture out’ and try other styles other than just long braids(I love long braids too). Another thing, there are way too many options for customers to turn to if they want their hair braided. There are other braiding salons ran by Africans and African Americans who also have skilled braiders. There are individuals who braid their own hair and other people’s hair as well. There are YouTube tutorials to teach people how to braid their hair. There are braided and faux locs wigs you can install on your heads, etc etc. They should welcome customers in a way that says, “we know you have other options, but you chose us!” Welcome! Throughout the visit not just when we enter or leave. In summary, they are excellent braiders, but need work on the customer service big time. Those who are ‘shy’ and have negative attitudes who work for her need to maybe work away from customers. P.S. they should be more open to share their culture by playing child appropriate movies, music in their shop. Maybe sell jewelry, hair ornaments, hang up pictures of current and more culturally traditional African braid styles on the wall. Make it a learning experience as well as a beautifying experience. Some AAs have not had a lot of exposure to African culture so it is up to them to make stopping in their salon a ‘lowkey’ teachable moment. Sorry, for the length I am passionate on this topic.

Critical: QualityI got butterfly locks I wanted them short but the lady suggested I get them long. the lady that does them did not use super glue but burnt them ( a big no no) mmkay fast forward after four days my locks start unraveling after seven days I’ve lost at least ten locks so I call to complain about my hair so i goes back to the shop she redo the ones she wanted to do because I ran out of hair ( mind you I bought my own hair, but they also provided hair , just not for me cause I had my own I guess) but before she redo them I asked if we could just do a different style on a different day and I’ll pay the difference because majority of my hair had to be taken down and redone anyway no to mention that they might do the same thing but she said no, mmkay , she redo the locks and here we are two days later and still the same results ( TRASH) there ugly af and that shop needs to stop robbing people of their hard earned money on this bs lazy hair braiding they be doing in that shop on 55th troost do not recommend nobody to go there for butterfly locks the lady that does them is sweet but the locks are TRASH. Better off going in Kansas off Minnesota to the African shop they ten times better anyways I made a huge mistake going on 55th smh never againServices: Hairstyling, Hair extensionsI got butterfly locks I wanted them short but the lady suggested I get them long. the lady that does them did not use super glue but burnt them ( a big no no) mmkay fast forward after four days my locks start unraveling after seven days …More

I’ve been coming here for about a year, at first it was very busy and didn’t seem like they had a lot of braiders. But after changing up the weeks I came they are just super busy certain weekends. They do a pretty good job and the braids last, everyone is nice and fast. Braids
