Let me tell you. I have taken my son to 6 other shops and barber shops. He either didn’t like the cut, they were to ruff, or they just messed it up completely. Today was Nick’s turn. Meh, not bad, not particularly great either. First time there, I asked him to just trim my hair, he asked, “just clean it up a bit?” I said yes, of course, but herein lies the rub, what is “clean it up?” He cut more than, from what I could tell, 50% of the length, which was not long at the beginning, way more than I wanted. I like that he shaves your neck but he doesn’t a use a straight razor like the old time barbers did & which I love, just uses what felt like a disposable razor, and, charges $2 to do that??

Since walking into Chuck’s a couple of years ago, I have never considered going anywhere else! I always get a great haircut from a professional barber. Chuck is a very dedicated family man with high values and a commitment to his clients. When you combine that with a great atmosphere, which includes antique barber chairs, a nice display of antique barber tools and a very comfortable waiting area, you have an experience which can’t be matched at a franchise barber/beauty shop. I’ve been going to Chuck’s Barber shop since I moved down here in April of 2015. I’ve never heard any complaints and have never had any myself. The staff is professional, caring, and good people. No matter how full the lobby may be, I am in and out within 15 minutes with an outstanding haircut and money in my pocket. They have the best prices and the best cuts. I recently moved to Gulf Shores and found Chuck’s. I’ve been 3 times now. Chuck has cut my hair, and another gentleman who had his daughter at work with him also cut it. I don’t know his name. My issue is that they have yet to do a proper fade. I keep leaving with a high a tight. They don’t use scissors. It’s a very fast cut and each time the sides have been uneven. There are spots they have completely missed that I have to cut when I get home because it’s sticking out. I’ve asked them to fix the uneven sides each time and it doesn’t help. They also keep your chair facing away from the mirror so you can’t see what they’re doing. They need some basic training on how to do fades. I leave with it being totally flat without any texture to the top because clippers have limits. I got my hair cut somewhere else this last time and people at work commented on how much better it looked. Being the fastest cut is only any good if you can produce consistent quality cuts. Unfortunately, even though the price is amazing and the staff is friendly, I have to go elsewhere from now on. This is the type if business I would love to support if the quality were there. A lot of their clientele are older gentlemen who don’t care or pay attention. I know Chuck reads these reviews and I feel bad even having to say these things. I don’t want a refund or a free cut. I just want quality.

Excellent cuts for both my son and husband. We’ve also used chain shops around the area, but no one compares to Mr. Chuck! He is fast, efficient, and consistent for a great price! My 8-year-old requests to go there each time he’s due for a cut. We have coupons to other shops, but you aren’t really saving money if you get a bad cut that needs fixing. Mr. Chuck doesn’t let us down!
