I made an appointment with Sam after hearing mixed reviews about other stylists at this salon. But when I got there, I was met with someone else. I wanted a simple lob cut – my go to cut at other places. I even had reference photos to share with her. But what I got is a shaggy, uneven haircut. I hoped that maybe after a day or two, it’ll settle in and be okay. But I’m beyond upset and will have to grow it out to fix this haircut.

A lot of good things to say about Nica & Sam. Not only is the staff friendly and the hair washing relaxing… not only is it a great price and a clean, relaxing environment… But the customer service and quality technique is on point. I’ve been going to Nica & Sam for a few years now and every time have been pleased. They are friendly and inviting and do a great job. Only one time in a few years did I need a color correction and they went above and beyond to make this happen without hesitation.

I love my fresh cut! I went with something a little outside the norm and got bangs and layers so I was a little nervous but Sam was great! He nailed down the photo and showed me exactly what he was cutting before doing it. AND Sam was just as excited and enthusiastic about my change up as I was! He fully supported it and I felt that he was honest in his opinion.

I had SUCH a good experience here, as it was my first time being at this salon. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. My hairstylist was Sam, who is the owner of the salon. His work was way beyond my expectations and I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw the finished results. The amount of effort and care these stylists put into their clients go above and beyond. 10/10 recommend!

I’ve been coming to Nica & Sam for a few years now (it was more often when I worked a few blocks away). This is by far one of the best salons in NYC! The staff is nice, professional and extremely talented! I recently had the best blowout with Madina! It lasted for days and my hair wasn’t dry out or burned. There are so many overpriced trendy blowout bars in the city that oftentimes will leave your hair fried and damaged. I swear by this salon!!

Sam has been my barber for 3 years. Great guy and very skilled. I get a scissor cut and the quality is always consistent. Timely with appointments. Overall excellent. Worth the extra dollars over the standard barber shop.

Vandio was amazing! He did a great job in suggesting a hair style that would look good on me and also blow drying it exceptionally well at the end. I would definitely recommend Vandio.
