I had an appointment with April this past weekend. First of all, her area was absolutely disgusting- floor and sink. It was early in the morning and not after an entire day of work so it was obvious nothing had been cleaned in several days or longer. At the very least the sink should be rinsed in between appointments! The sink was so gross and had other peoples hair all over it and she didn’t even rinse it before having me lay back to get my color washed out..it took everything in me not to say something. I really felt like I needed to rewash it in my clean shower at home after leaving there. My color was not at all even…and she tried to say it was because I had a lot of outgrowth and “there’s only so much I can do.” I’ve highlighted my hair for 20 years now and as a busy mom have many times not gotten back as quickly as I would have liked and have not had any issues getting an even highlight so that excuse is ridiculous. In addition, she was asking my opinion on how to fix it- I am not a stylist and have no idea about toner colors etc. She did end up getting some advice from the owner on how to fix it and after another foil set, toner treatment and 3.5 LONG hours, I left looking okay but I missed lunch with husband and no discount was offered for the inconvenience or anything else for that matter. It was the 2nd worst experience I have ever had at a salon in 20 years so that says a lot!

Critical: QualityI received a haircut from April, and while she was very friendly and seemed like a nice person, her hair cutting abilities were obviously limited. I’m not a very picky person, and I asked for a relatively simple/straightforward haircut, but it was poorly done and extremely uneven/jagged. She mentioned that she had a lot going on in her life and that I was her only customer for the day, so maybe the poor haircut was a result of the fact that she was in a rush, but even after I pointed out the issues with the unevenness/jaggedness, she was unable to fix it properly. (She was also about 10 minutes late to our appointment, which wouldn’t have been a big deal by itself, but added to the poor experience). Ultimately, I ended up going to another hair salon to get my haircut fixed. I enjoyed my experience at NewEra Salon. Maggie was great! I brought in a picture for the inspiration for my new hair color and style and without a doubt she made it happen. She takes each client with a passion to achieve what we want. I say we because my daughter came with and showed her a picture as well and it was magnificent of what she did to my daughters hair.

I love this place! Maggie Swartz is my hair stylist and she is a true artist! Bring in a picture of any style, color, design, etc, and she can totally recreate it! And better than you could have imagined! The entire salon is just a happy place to be. All of the stylists genuinely care about and like each other, and it shows. No one is afraid to ask for a collaboration on an idea. I love to get my hair done here, and so do my three boys!!!! We love New Era, and we love Maggie!!!

Maggie is a great stylist. Very professional. Love the layout, with a place for my kids to play and a station in which you can play around on a Kindle when you’re waiting for your hair to set. Really up to date and well thought out. My hair looks lovely. She really put a lot of effort into how the color I wanted would work on my hair, and made it happen. I’m a copper head now!

The stylists here are fantastic! Erin has been my stylist for years and I continue to be impressed by her. I don’t get my hair cut as often as I should to keep it short and neat, but when I do, I go to NewEra. The prices are great and the stylists are very experienced.
