Nelson’s daughter Sloane worked some magic on my hair. It was very damaged l, to the point that I dreaded combing it out in the morning, and the ends were just fried. I just told her the damage has to go (my hair was down to about my waist.) So I will go with whatever your recommendation is. So with her recommendation we went with taking off 3 inches. She also put an amazing honey oatmeal thing in my hair, it smelled great and made my hair so soft. Above all I feel loke this is my first salon experience where I said I don’t know what I need but I’ll go with what you say, and I still felt listened to, and like the whole process was a partnership. ‘Hey here’s what I think we can do to take on this challenge.’ I can’t wait to go back. And any salon that has a pupper is a good one in my book. The overall bonus is that Nelson and Sloane are both really easy going and personable.

Critical: ProfessionalismSo unprofessional I personally stopped going here because every time I made an appointment Sloan showed up late and took forever to get me seated. My friend who booked her appointment traveled ONE HOUR to get her hair done and just for Sloan to not even be there. No explanation. Then to top it off the man working there I believe is her father sent me to her apartment to look for her. She also was not there. If your going to not make it please advice your customers ahead of time!!! You not only wasted her time but also her gas. Now that is how you lose valuable clients. Now my friend has to go on a trip without her hair being done. So unprofessional I personally stopped going here because every time I made an appointment Sloan showed up late and took forever to get me seated. My friend who booked her appointment traveled ONE HOUR to get her hair done and just for Sloan to not even be there. No explanation. Then to top it off the man working there I believe is her father sent me to her apartment to look for her. She also was not there. We came to this salon purely based on reviews. I was really hoping for a miracle for both my daughter and I. I included a picture of my daughter’s before and after. I’ll have to come back to post one for me as I didn’t get an after pic. Sloan cut my daughter’s hair and Nelson cut mine. My daughter was dealing with the aftermath of a double process. It has been quite some time since she could run her fingers through her hair. She thought she was going to lose most of her hair but Sloan saved the day. My daughter’s super happy with her results! She looks great and just in time for her Year Book pictures! As for me, Nelson took his time and styled my hair in a way I’ve never seen. I now have body and depth throughout my entire hair. I am very grateful and will be returning.

Critical: Professionalism(ZERO STARS) I originally went here last November and was happy. He cuts beautiful hair and received many compliments. I called earlier last week to make an appointment. When it was time to see him, he completely blew me off offering no explanation but “I don’t know what happened, you aren’t even booked, and I already left.” He said he would “get me in” just wait for his call back. I waited to no avail and he didn’t answer my call back. When I texted him, I said I was willing to wait for him, no hard feelings, he said the same thing. He offered no resolution and showed no remorse. I had a family gathering that evening and was left to find a last minute place to do my hair. It’s unfortunate because I would have established him as my regular stylist. I’m not one to write bad reviews, but I was severely upset. If you really wanted to give this place a try, call the day before to confirm with him, especially if you have an event you are dolling up for (although that would be nonsensical to do). I had an appointment scheduled and when I got there the owner (Nelson) said that Sloane (the hairstylist) left for the day. I didn’t receive a call that my appointment had been cancelled and I barely got an apology when he told me. I made another appointment and on my way there I received a call Sloane was going to be 30 mins late and then after waiting 45 she still hadn’t shown up. I went in for a trim (specifically stated – JUST a trim) and I left with half my hair gone in a very weird shape with bluntly cut block layers. I have two chunks on either side of my head that hang like ears. I had to have this fixed by another salon, and to do that I had to lose more length. I had very thick long hair. Now I have medium length thin hair and I’m down 250 dollars for some extentions. Do not trust the owner of this place, Nelson, to touch your hair. Apparently, after reading Yelp reviews, I am not the only person he has done this to…. To quote another victim… “How does cutting the front third of my hair 8 inches shorter than the rest of my head like a big clump youthful?”

Darla is a fantastic colorist and stylist. The homey atmosphere at Nelson Group is great. Would recommend for sure. Only 4 stars because there are a few updates at the salon that need attention. Nothing that affects your hair!

Be prepared to wait up to an hour before your appointment. I’ve had this happen to me twice now – I was greeted, told to sit and wait. And no one came by to tell me my colorist was running late. I had to ask the receptionist who rudely told me she was still with another client. For the price – it’s not worth it. You can get good color elsewhere and for a better price. Their deal of half off your first visit is totally worth it though if you need to get something like full color done. So use that then move on!

Completely unprofessional. I asked for a trim today. And then they proceeded to cut off way more length than I asked for. He completely disregarded what I asked for and tried to convince me that I looked good. Do NOT go here unless you want someone to freestyle your hair. Straight trash salon!
