They did a poor job toning as my hair is pretty yellow in most places. Not impressed. Came here for a blonde balayage and my hair looks the same as it did before, I’m just out $320+. They did a poor job toning as my hair is pretty yellow in most places. They also charged me for a conditioning treatment I didn’t ask for (actually told me it was going to be complimentary because I was waiting for so long and then added it to the bill). Inviting, cute, efficient, and skilled! This salon didn’t cut any corners and it was fantastic! My stylist was Amanda, who I hadn’t known previously but her calm confidence really allowed me to trust her immediately. She did absolute wonders on my hair and I cannot praise her expertise enough. The cost for color services does not include cut or toner, keep that in mind.. I’ve been to Moxie several times for a balayage and couldn’t figure out why the price increases so much until I heard them break down the charges to ring me up yesterday. The services aren’t bad, they just aren’t any better than the other local salons who include that in their pricing. I never seem to walk out completely satisfied and the increased cost puts an extra weight on any dissatisfaction.

Worst hair cut of my life. I needed a haircut before graduation and other events so I decided to try out moxie which had many recommendations from friends. I decided to go with a “master level 1” stylist (Esther) since I was just getting a trim but wanted someone who knew what they were doing. Clearly a mistake. I came in with hair that went in inch below my shoulders and asked for just a trim that would hit right above my shoulders. She asked if I wanted layering and I said yes a little but nothing crazy, and I also mentioned I wanted some framing pieces in the front cut a little shorter. Besides that there was pretty much no interaction with the stylist which made things a little uncomfortable even if the cut turned out fine.

Ok I finally decided to write a review, waited it out for a week because I thought that my hair will get better. I recently moved to VA and had to leave my hairstylist behind that I’ve been using for long time. I was searching for hair salons in the area for few months and based on the reviews I decided to make an appointment. I drove for an hour to Moxie from another city I didn’t mind …. My hairstylist was Jax, she was very nice and polite to me but I really didn’t like how she did my hair. She did single process for me… I asked to match the color I already had on my head and a haircut. She picked out a color for me and said this will be great. Well my hair came out brown with red hints to it, completely not what I asked for. I waited out thinking that maybe when I wash my hair few times it will fade away, well it didn’t… it’s still red and I absolutely HATE IT. Cut was very basic and once she was done with my hair she didn’t even style it. I am very disappointed because A. I didn’t expect that from Master Level 3 stylist and B. For that price I paid 10 year old would probably do a better job. Like the salon but hate my hair. I will not go back to her for sure. Sorry Jax you are nice but I really didn’t like how you did my hair. Now I am crying every time I look in the mirror because if her!!! And forced to go on vacation with jacked up hair…. This is an absolute disaster what they did to me

Wonderful clean establishment with great customer service. My stylist, Olivia, was very knowledgeable about Locs and has the most gentle touch. I will be going back in a few weeks for a retwist.

I had a blow out for my son’s wedding – coming from the U.K. – in Charlottesville. I was recommended Moxie Hair lounge. Asha did my blow out and I have very fine and limp hair. She worked wonders! My hair looked amazing all day (also under a hat), and still looked good in the evening. I also bought the product from the salon that she used on my hair (Kevin Murphy) to touch up my hair before the event. Truly grateful to Asha and all at Moxie for giving me fabulous hair for a very special day!
