The establishment is dirty. No sanitizing going on there. And the light skinned chic was OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD & rude. She is rough on your head & cares none. This place isn’t customer service friendly. My appointment was at 11 for started at noon and finished at 10³⁰. If you desire peace of mind as I do take the drive and go someplace you will be respected and catered to. My braids do look good. However, if your tender headed don’t do it. Honestly don’t do it anyway. I will never return. EVA!

This is the 2nd time that i have brought my child here to get her hair done each time with a set appointment only for us to get there and they not be i then call for them to say 30 mins and they still show up later than the 30 mins they have no respect for the time of the people that come to them for services this will be my last time we set for an hour and 30 minutes after the time they said they would be there. I try and not be late but I do work crazy hours. My hair needed the attention because of a previous mishap with another hairstylist. I was late again but when I called her to tell her I was late she held my slot for another hour. When I arrived she sat me down . There were no insulting remarks made behind my back about my tardiness She instantly went to work on my braids. It took awhile but I’m so pleased with my hair that I cried yesterday. My scalp was traumatized and irritated by miscare from someone else and she was careful and gave me advice to get my growth back. No chemicals she said.I picked my own hair and hairstyle. I will always choose thse ladies. Wonderful ladies. Wonderful job.

They texted me one price then when I got there it was something different. She rused on my hair because they were getting packed. Parts wasn’t neat and hair was freazy and not laid properly.

I wish I could give this place a 0. First off let me start I came in asking for goddesses braids and got BIG braids. OK then I was charged a 100$ that it wasn’t even worth it. The lady who was doing me and another parties hair was in labor && yes I said labor. It was rushed my hair looked nothing like the photo I showed them. I called back to get. I called back to get my hair fixed and she going to say I’ll offer you a discount like what? You messed my hair up. Moral of the story they can not do hair it’s very very unprofessional smh spend your money elsewhere before you go here. Motherland in charlotte NC is a very good place for braids or anything of that sort.

Horrible!If I could give a negative 10, I would! I called and made a 9am appt for today to get Goddess braids. At 9:30 they show up and tell me that the girl that is supposed to do my hair isn’t coming. I drove all the way here and now they’re is no one to braid my hair???? Wth kind of business are you running??? Then tells me that I can wait another hour. I am pissed and would never recommend this poorly run business to anyone! I called a friend who sent me to Sire African Hair Braiding in Statesville. She not only worked me in when they were slammed busy but my hair is absolutely beautiful! I will never even try Mel’s again.

Worst place ever to get your hair done. When I walked in, I showed the woman a picture of how I wanted my hair braided. She said she knew how to do it but for some odd reason I felt like she couldn’t anyway, when I got up from that chair the style she had put in my head was NOTHING like the picture. The braids I was supposed to have were small size goddess braids, instead i ended up with 5 JUMBO braids bigger than my head, not only that, the style didn’t even look professional. I wouldn’t advise anyone to get their hair done by Mel’s hair braiding in newton. People work hard for their money just to throw it away and that’s exactly what I did. WORST PLACE EVER!!!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND THEY WILL TAKE UP YOUR ENTIRE DAY OH AND NO NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT THEY WOMT START ON YOUR HAIR UNTIL HOURS LATER AND THEN EXPECT YOU TO PAY FULL PROVE AFTER WAITING TWO HOURS OR LONGER THIS PLACE NEEDS TO SHUT DOWN THEY BRAID HAIR WITH THE ELECTRICITY CUT OFF ALSO I SEE EXACTLY WHY THEY HAVE 3 STARS!
