I was looking for a professional braid business with quality work and Monica’s is now my go to. I’ve been 3 times now, and got a different style each time and all were beautiful. Each time there was no wait, the braiders and the owner are very professional and fast and no unnecessary breaks leaving you sitting there for hours. I was in and out each time and the prices are reasonable. I will keep returning. They can also wash and blow dry if needed.

I went to get braids and decided on micro braids and everything was going well until they were 3/4 through my hair on the front half and realized they did not have enough hair. There was no way to really blend another color in the front. They used some other hair which is totally different and extremely puffy and knotted. To add insult to injury is they made it seem like it was my fault. Did not give a discount for there error. And charged me more than they quoted. Not to mention it was my birthday. Talk about ruining my day. Never will be going back. $250 later my hair is a mess and I am hurt.

I recently went to Monica’s sometime in March by recommendation of a family member. The service medium knotless braids mid back length. I messaged the salon on Google first to inquire about pricing and sent a picture of the hair color and the person was very professional and quick to respond. They were able to answer all my questions. I was able to make an appointment that weekend. I did not have to wait when I arrived and this was on a Saturday. When I arrived I had shampoo my natural hair and detangled prior, but if you salon too they can there is an additional fee. They do provide hair as well. Shockingly the braids were not tight and didn’t pull my edges or casue any breakage. I oil and wrap my hair every night so this may help with that. I was done in 3 hours mainly with 1 braider. Toward the end if a person is available I did have a second person to help with braiding. They accept payment through Cash App which is awesome. My hair is still in and my braids are in good condition. This was my first time and I didn’t have any issues.

Monica suggested I get large knotless braids. I said ok and tried them out. After seeing the reveal I told her the braids in the front are much larger than the braids in the back. The fee was $160 and she said since I didn’t like it I can pay $150. I was not looking for a discount the issue is the front is larger than the back and it doesn’t look right. I have very soft hair and this style will not even last a week. Today is the first day not even 2 hours ago and it’s already puffing up at the root. Additionally they use way too much products. Everyone’s hair is not the same. Everyone does not need globs of product on each braid. This caused my hair to look messy and also it will not last because of all the gel or whatever jam mixture they’re using. I paid and left. I called back later after looking at my hair at home and realizing this is not going to last. I asked can I come back and just have cornrows added to the front. And I was told I would have to pay for the cornrows ($5 each). First of all I asked for a center part and the girl who was braiding my hair said it would look better with a side part so I said ok that’s fine. Now that I don’t like it and it doesn’t even match the back of my hair and the parts aren’t even straight I have to pay more for them to make it right. Unacceptable. Not returning. I can pay $150 for medium sized knotless at Nadine’s. Why would I pay $160 or $150 for large knotless braids when this style won’t even last more than a week or so. Only reason I was giving this shop a try is because it’s closer. I’ll keep driving to Bowie for Nadine’s instead. Thanks but no thanks. Only plus is there shop is always clean and neat. The braiders do braid very tight tho and do not care if your tinder headed.

I was a faithful customer. Monica did my hair every time for 3 years. I asked her was she available. She said yes but when I arrived, Monica had someone else do my hair. I wanted faux locs and I received stiff locs. My hair had no movement and I expressed my disdain for the style. I will not be back and I DONT RECOMMEND THEM. I am upset and unsatisfied! She definitely loss a GREAT CUSTOMER. I texted her to express my dissatisfaction and she never replied back to a loyal customer. She will NEVER get my money EVER AGAIN. I see others are not satisfied as well. This let’s me know that her quality of work has went down hill. The lack of loyalty to her loyal customers is disrespectful. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
