Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value[Sorry for the extra long review but you all should know!]The day I heard about Moi Beauty Parlor and Spa being a luxury black owned beauty salon and spa I was already intrigued! I thought, a place that does all natural hair (even locs) that’s calls themselves luxurious?? But I found out that’s exactly what they are. Located in Rockville Centre, an easy 10 minute drive for me thank goodness, they are in an amazing location for black long islanders who frequently have to travel to queens or Brooklyn for someone they can trust with their hair! So I easily booked my appointment online and when I showed up they were ready to go! No wait necessary!I no longer have to get my locs done in someone’s house! Jenna took her time washing my hair in their LAY FLAT hair washing bed. She massaged my scalp so well while she thoroughly shampooed and conditioned my hair, I was ready to sleep there for the whole day!I was offered a cup of tea (they have coffee and wine as well!) and quite enjoyed that while I began to get my hair retwisted with care by the experienced Sherlie. She has quick but precise fingers that gently sorted through my 4 month old untouched locs (you can only imagine the jungle my head had become)! She explained that I would need an oil treatment soon and really took care of my hair. Then I went under the dryer and got a nice cold bottle of water while I waited for my hair to dry and enjoyed reading a complimentary copy of Michele Obama’s “Becoming” on the coffee table next to me! I honestly felt so pampered by now I was ready to move in! After hearing about and experiencing Jenna’s magical massages I seriously considered getting a massage that day (if I didn’t have somewhere to be afterwards) which I will be going back for. After my hair finished drying, Sherlie styled my hair checking in to make sure I liked how it was turning out and ensuring it wasn’t too tight. And when all was done I was on cloud 9! I loved my look and felt even better. Thanks to the women of Moi for creating such an accessible salon in a much needed area. I will most certainly be going here from now on. You all should know that they know what they’re doing and they’ll treat you right.Service: Hairstyling[Sorry for the extra long review but you all should know!]The day I heard about Moi Beauty Parlor and Spa being a luxury black owned …More

My experience here was amazing. The owner is a great person to converse with and the quality was great. I came here for my retwist and it was performed much better than any of the salons I’ve been too in before. If you’re in Long Island and you need your hair done this is a great place to stop by. Shampoo & conditioning, Dreadlocks, Hairstyling

I had a wonderful experience at this shop. I came in as a walk in and needed to get my locs retwisted. The owner of the shop is such a nice lady and does high quality work. I was able to get my locs washed and retwisted that same day just in time for Thanksgiving! I would definitely recommend anyone that needs their locs retwisted to go to this shop here! Especially if you are in the Queens area borderline Long Island and not looking to travel to Jamaica Ave or Brooklyn. It is a 15 min drive from where I live. Very convenient. Will definitely be coming back for my loc maintenance! Thank you again Moi!!

Critical: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueThis salon is NO LONGER Black owned. It had been advertised as being one in many Black Facebook groups- but it no longer is.I was highly disgusted with my last visit here. For the following reasons:1. UNPROFESSIONAL – Upon arrival, a White male was passed out asleep snoring on the salon couch with his bare feet on it. It took him about 5 minutes to realize anyone had entered the salon and clearly wasn’t expecting anyone. He was not aware of the appointment I made and neither did “the owner” Shirley. As he called her, and she was unaware of the appointment that was made on the website. I booked with Shirley, who was being advertised as the owner, to do a consultation and best treat and style my mother’s hair. I spoke to her about this twice: Once in person and via email. So, as you can imagine it was upsetting to see she wasn’t there.2. NOT ABIDING BY CDC GUIDELINES – The male stylist (the man sleeping on the couch) offered to start my mother’s hair and while washing her hair, he began coughing, WITH NO MASK ON. Throughout the appointment he was continuously coughing around the salon, and it wasn’t until I looked up with a disgusted expression did the “owner” bring a mask to him to put on. Fast forward 2 days later I had a sore throat and cold like symptoms. He was also using one of the styling tools used on customers, to bump the front of his own hair which appeared unclean.3. “The owner” finally arrives and instead of addressing the issue right away she begins deflecting and trying to distract me by talking about how much she loved my eyelashes and where do I get them done. Once she realized it wasn’t working, she finally decided to address my concerns about her not being there to properly assess my mother’s hair before anything was done to it. She said she would have a look and finished off the rest of my mother’s hair.4. When it finally came time to pay, “the owner” was calling the male stylist over for the balance, that is when she revealed the male stylist was now the ownerThe entire appointment was uncomfortable from start to finish. This was not my experience the first time. The salon has gone downhill. From the false advertising to the unprofessionalism and germ spreading. The stylist who did my natural hairstyle months ago is no longer there. I honestly feel bad for Shirley (the former owner) because the salon had such great potential then, but now It looks unkept, the service is TERRIBLE, and the styling was mediocre. Definitely not worth the pricing.Services: Hairstyling, HaircutThis salon is NO LONGER Black owned. It had been advertised as being one in many Black Facebook groups- but it no longer is. …More

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueAmazing experience! Couldn’t ask for anything better . So professional. They really took the time to take care of my hair. The wash came with 20 head massage! Best thing ever! I almost fell asleep! Then cut and trimmed my end! It was very luxurious! Most places feel rushed. But this place is about luxury for black women, and we need that more than ever. The prices were so reasonable. I tipped %50 percent . I’ll definitely be back ! Don’t forget to add this business in to your daily routine. We must take care of our selvesService: HairstylingAmazing experience! Couldn’t ask for anything better . So professional. Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI got knotless box braids and I am in love! When I walked in they made me feel like I was at home and a already known customer. This was my first time at MOI Beauty Parlor & spa and it won’t be my last. The prices are wonderful and I am not going any where else. They do accept walk-ins but when you do appointments you are to come first. The establishment is clean and beautiful. And to know that this is a black owned business makes me more happy because places like that are rare.I got knotless box braids and I am in love!
