I chose this place because it was minority-owned. I was so excited to see a salon with such good reviews. Sadly I was deeply disappointed. The stillest Lee started thinning out my hair and said my hair was too heavy. I asked her not to. I explained to her I didn’t mind having thick hair. She laughed and said, “Just a little bit” I had to get up from my chair nearly. So she’d stop. I was agitated. She said she was sorry, but it looks good. I honestly wanted to love this place, but the disrespect of not caring what the client wants is absurd.

Joel is awesome and he does great work! I havent worked with any of the other hair dressers but my only gripe is with the hair sinks. They are not firm so when you lay down to get your hair washed you literally have to tense your neck the whole time just to keep it from not dipping to low, it was extremely uncomfortable and the hair wash is the best part of the experience for me.

Critical: QualityTook my 11 yr step daughter for a haircut. I told them I wanted the hair length an inch past her shoulders all one length. They cut it shorter and the front is shorter than the back. She now looks like Dora the explorer.Also I paid $40 and they didn’t even shampoo her hair.They wet her hair, cut it and blow dried. Never again. Idk how all the hairstylist cut. Joel has been doing my hair for about a year now and he does an amazing job with blonde! Pretty light blonde hair and no matter how light I want to go, he does it very carefully to make sure there is no damage. Also so knowledgeable on after care to keep from damaging and to maintain the color! I would highly recommend!

Went in with a picture from Pinterest of Ombré hair and Priscilla mastered it to a T on me! & Tony did an awesome cut. Could not be more pleased with their services and will most definitely be back! Not to mention, their prices are fabulous! I highly recommend Modern Salon on 1488!
