My 12-year-old was begging all week we were on vacation to get her nails done. We finally had time and arrived at modern nails 45 minutes before they closed. They graciously took us in, knowing they probably wouldn’t finish before closing hours. I will be honest, this is a hole in the wall place, but don’t let it scare you off. The employees are so kind and accommodating. My daughter is the happiest she’s ever been about her nails. She got powder acrylic with nail art and they did an amazing job. The receptionist offered us drinks the entire time and all of the employees were so sweet to my daughter, and my son who was waiting with me. I noticed they have nail tips in every color for some fun French manicures. When we go back to Galveston we will return. FYI: $60 for tips, shaping, powder and art on 4 nails.

The environment was also extremely clean and relaxing! Everyone was super sweet and they even stayed after closing so I could wait on my ride safely inside. This was my first time going to Modern Nails and Ms. Vivian and Mr. Phillip did an INCREDIBLE job on my nails just in time for Halloween! They look exactly like the reference photos and were completely free handed. They took their time, paid a great attention to detail and made sure to check in with me throughout the process to make sure I was comfortable and happy. My sister and I came here to get mani/pedis before our cruise. All of the staff was very friendly and they did a fantastic job. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. They took their time even though they were busy. I will definitely come back to Modern Nails any time I’m in Galveston. I’m just sad I can only give them 5 stars when they obviously deserve 10.

They are very friendly. My pedicure was nice and the polish looked good. My nails were another story. I asked for white matte nails. They did it with powder. She dipped my nails 5 times!!! I have never had my nails dipped that many times with the powder. I thought maybe she would file it down quite a bit and decided to see what happened. She didn’t. So before she did the top coat I asked her to file my nails down more because they were SO thick. She said that’s how they were supposed to be since she used powder and I insisted on filing them down. She did in the end. They had a nice shape but the top of the nails were not smooth or even. I was getting on a cruise the next day and had other stuff to do so I didn’t ask for my nails to be done again. I would not go back here again. Also after 2 or 3 days my nails started an off white color. The matte top coat was no good.

A very sketchy place. The owner charged me extra for my manicure. I usually spend 40-45 for a powder dip nails on salons here without the acrylics but he charged me $60 for God knows what! I’ve had my nails done here on the island and with acrylics, should only cost me up to 55. But this time, it was my real nails and a powder I paid 60!!! Y’all be charging customers extra!!!

I walked in on a Thursday at 10:15 in the morning. The staff was very friendly, and I was invited to sit down on a massage chair to begin my pedicure. The leg and foot massage was wonderful! Best I’ve ever had. The nail tech did a great job, and I will definitely be back if ever in this area again.
