There are not modern techniques at “modern hair design”. Treating yourself to a day at the hair salon should make you feel confident when you leave and refreshed but when I left this salon feeling worse than I came in. my hair was over bleached,brittle because the owner did not know how ti touch up the highlights she’s put it my hair. My family and I went there for years and decided to trust them with dying my hair but do not come here for hair color I’m actually not going to be returning. I still paid full price for the damage as good riddance.. there’s no new techniques offered at the salon you can do your hair yourself smh

I have been natural for around two years and had several cuts in between so my hair has remained relatively short. I have a natural curly twa and was happy..but not overjoyed. I decided to go to Modern Hair designs and was blessed to have Geneva who is a natural stylist counsel me on hair choices and care. She sized up my face structure, personality and life style and created a wash and go/coil style just for me. When she allowed me to look at style in mirror I cried. I could not believe that she captured ME..the essence of who I wanted to emulate. If you are natural do not walk ..run to Modern Hair Designs and ask for Geneva!

Went here after taking my weave out three weeks prior and hadn’t washed my hair BC of work. I walked in, the only 2 employees in the shop greeted me with sass and attitude. I told them I was a walk in and just needed a wash and straighten and that it was my first time there. The girl was like oh. Then she got on the phone w. Whom I assume is the owner who stated she’d be there soon and go ahead and wash and blow dry. The girl began washing my hair she shampooed ONE TIME and conditioner, sat me up to towel dry my hair and it smelled like 3week old unwashed hair still…gross, right? She sat me in the chair and began blowing drying my hair with this really weak dryer in which didnt fully dry my hard in which the stylist whom had just walked in had to dry fully prior to beginning. Now the stylist who I believe was also the owner was so nice and warm welcoming but kept asking if I was sure I just wanted my hair straightened as if it didnt look right so I said go ahead and feather it. What irritated me was the fact that I go to the dominicans and regardless of my length they’ve always done an immaculate job, when I left modern designs, I looked like an old lady and ended up doing my own hair when I got home. Waste of time and money.
