I saw Darci for my first curly girl cut and let’s just say she went above and beyond. I started my CG journey about 3 months ago and when I saw Darci I was dealing with dull limp hair that looked lifeless. After a day at Modern Curls and Cuts she transformed my locks into beautiful defined curls that looked healthy and were bouncy and soft to the touch. She has thought about everything! When you step into her salon be ready to relax and sit back while she works her magic. She is the sweetest and makes you feel so comfortable. My day with her was a whole experience. She was so prompt and professional and made me feel heard in her chair. As if all of that wasn’t enough, Darci took the time to educate me on absolutely everything when it comes to my hair. She walked me through the washing and conditioning of my hair to how to apply my products in order and the techniques to get my absolute best hair. You leave with a new appreciation for your curls and actually look forward to your next wash day to try all of her tips yourself. Since visiting Darci I have extended my wash day and my curls actually look good on day 3 and 4 and the best part…. refreshing only takes 3 minutes if that!

Darci was so patient and detailed with the first time haircut experience! As a curly girl who’s always nervous to have someone cut my curls since I have thin hair and 2C/3A, Darci made me feel confident and comfortable as I stepped into her salon. If you look at her Instagram, she cuts all types of curls, and knows her stuff. She really listened to what hairstyle I was hoping to achieve and patiently explained how to use all of the products, even giving me a detailed notes sheet with all of the steps and laminating it so I can use it during my curl routine. I would highly recommend her to any wavy or curly girl out there!

I live abroad, in an area where nobody knows what to do with really curly hair, so I decided to get my first haircut in years while visiting family in Pearland. I’m so glad that after a bunch of research, I decided to go with Darci! She gave me a fantastic cut that has me feeling so excited every time that I look in the mirror — not just on wash day but every day. What’s more, she took a ton of time to walk me through the step-by-step routine of washing it, styling it, drying it, and sleeping with it, so that I could sustain the gorgeous look over time. This was my first haircut since moving from NYC to Houston. Darci had big shoes to fill. I LOVED my old hairstylist who made me love my hair for 20+years. I came to Darci already liking my curly/wavy hair. I was just way overdue for a haircut, plus the humidity/heat of Houston required some radical change and I knew it. I wanted kind of a rock/roll shaggy curly hair cut. She delivered. I had to coax her a little out of her comfort zone, but ultimately it’s a great haircut and here’s why: Yes, she gave me a 2 page explainer about how to care for my hair, but it looks pretty good if I don’t use any extra product or follow her rules and spend an hour diffusing it. It looks good when i first wake up. it looks ready to go out in public without even really having to comb it. I spritz it with some water, scrunch it a bit and it looks good. maybe it would look AMAZING if I used all the products and followed the rules, but it looks good without doing all that. she gave me some tricks and pointers, some of them were great and some of them i’m too lazy to do. She tried to get me to buy some product, but I have tons of product at home and would prefer to use up what i had first. She was cool with that and did not pressure too much. It is technically more expensive than NY by like $100 (and that wasn’t even including product which would cost more). But I consider it a good investment. I haven’t really seen any women with haircuts that I like or would want in the webster/clearlake/league city area (maybe i’d see more exciting haircuts in the Houston city proper?). So I think this is may be the best haircut in the webster/clearlake/league city area if you have curly or wavy hair. This is the best haircut if you don’t want to perma-straight your hair. She would be a great person to see if you used to live in the desert and now have curlier than expected hair in houston and you’ve never learned how to manage it. she’d teach you well. I added a photo of my hair weeks after the haircut no product, after watering the garden till sweat poured down my face. so this, is about as bad as it ever looks, and i think it looks pretty good.
