532 Laser Therapy
The 532 laser is reserved for facial vein therapy to remove red or blue veins from the face. Areas of most concern for my patients are veins on the nose, under the eye and on the cheeks. We also use this system to treat rosacea , red scars and hemangiomas.
Acne
We use a multi prong treatment plan for our Acne patients. Dietary changes, topical medications, occasionally oral antibiotics and laser therapy. The carbon spectra peel or the laser genesis are out laser of choice in treating acne. We chose the system based on the type of acne one has and the amount of redness in the lesions.

Excessive sweating under the arms is very unnerving to the person suffering from this benign condition. Often sweating through shirts, jackets and coats. The administration of Botox in the axilla results in 80% to 95% reduction on perspiration and lasts over 6 months.

Dermal Fillers for the under eye
As we age we develop under eye hollows that create a darkening of the lower lid, shadows and an aged appearance. Administering small doses of dermal fillers deep in this area will soften the hollow instantly , creating a more youthful appearance . The under eye requires detailed understanding of facial anatomy to avoid unwanted outcomes and create a bulge in the area. I prefer blunt needles in this area to avoid bruising and swelling. Results are instant and last over a year.
Dermal fillers and Botox/Dysport for Oral Rejuvantaion
The mouth responds beautifully to both injectable fillers and blocking agents. Most common presentations are for Gummy Smile , Resting Pout Mouth , and downturned mouth corners.

THese days the filling or plumping of the lips is a common procedure in my practice. I strive for a natural looking lip that is simply refilled but also will create a very full lip if that is what the patient desires. Lips require special attention to detail and anatomy and specific fillers utilized. The most common fillers for lip plumping are Restylane, Restylane Defyne and Juvederm Ultra XC. THe injections can be painless if a dental block is requested and all of my medications come with novacaine ( lidocaine) in the mixture.

Melasma
Melasma is a condition where the melanocytes produce to much melanin an an area creating a brown patch notably on the cheeks , nose and forehead. Although melisma primarily strikes the Asian population anyone with a darker skin tone is susceptible. The sun , hormones of pregnancy are common culprits. Using the low dose approach developed in Korea many times we can reduce or resolve the melisma after a series of sessions using the laser. Unfortunately there is no cure so strict sun avoidance and use of our sun block is essential for a good outcome and lasting results.

The sun damages skin develops ” sun spots” , “age Spots” , “Liver Spots” but they all are lentigines related to UV exposure and should be removed. Using the Q Switched KTP we are able to remove these sun spots in one to three sessions.
Radiesse
Unlike the others this is a calcium preparation initially only FDA approved for the cheeks but now also the nasolabial folds. This is a thick less pliable filler so its reserved for very deep folds and also for the cheeks if augmentation is desired.
Restylane
A hyaluronic acid filler for facial wrinkle and fold plumping. Areas of use are the nasolabial folds, the lips, and especially under the eye. Results are instant.
Restylane Defyne
My new favorite filler for its ability to fill deeper folds and for its ability to expand with facial motion. There currently is no other filler on the market that had this ability to stretch making it perfect for rejuvenation of the mouth area. When you smile the Defyne follows the smile ensuring a natural look at all times.
Restylane Lyft
Another deep volume filler for the cheek area and nasolabial folds with a long duration and instant results. The amount of cheek augmentation is the same as voluma but the cost is less making it a favorite in my practice.
Restylane Refyne
The same properties as Defyne but a thinner formula allowing for filling in thin superficial folds and wrinkles.
Restylane Silk
Silk as the name implies is a thin filler excellent for filling the lip lines or ” smokers lines”
Rosacea
Rosacea is the development of abnormal capillaries deep in the skin creating a facial redness , red nodules , occasional eye involvement and rhinophyma. Rosacea is best treated with a combination of the 532 laser and the Genesis. Results are normally seen after each session.

The Hollywood Peel
We were the first practice in the country to offer the Spectra Carbon Peel now titeld the Hollywood peel for its use by celebrities desiring a quick rejuvenation with no downtime. The Hollywood Peel uses carbon to prepare the skin then two different lasers , one to heat the other to laser the carbon off. The removal of the carbon also removes a superficial layer of the outer skin . It is painless and has no downtime, the Hollywood Peel can be given as a single monthly session or the recommended series of five.

VI Peels
The VI peel is an excellent means of rejuvenation using a mixture of peeling agents, vitamin c antioxidants and Retin-A. The peel is applied in the office and washed off several hours later. An aftercare kit is supplied making the aftercare easy. We offer both the VI and the VI with precision which is 20% stronger and used for patients with more severe sun damage.

I became a patient of Dr Glenn Messina after seeing one of his videos on the youtube informational channel. I was interested in the Hollywood peel and contacted him. I have not had one before abd of course has my concerns about a laser not only on my skin but to my face. Dr. Messina explained the process in detail without any rushing of me and how we avoid problems by mutual communication he asking me if all is okay and me telling him if it feels to uncomfortable. He put the carbon on then steel eye cups , since I couldn’t see Dr. Messina told me exactly what he was doing and when he would start. The process was warm and painless and I loved the results, we did a series of 5 and I like the glow of my skin and overall improvement in its texture and even color.

I initially came to the office of Dr Messina with my daughter who suffers with acne. We were really at the end of our rope in that just about all else had failed to control her acne. Some products dried her skin to much others burned and nothing worked. My daught at 16 was starting to avoid social situations, we were told about Dr Messina via a friends mother at our high school and we thought lets try one more time. I am so glad we did. Dr Messina understood what my daughter was going through infact it happened in his daughter which was a stimulus for him to venture into acne therapy ( I beleive he started in medicine/critical care). He was very compassionate and recommended a combination of what we tried plus his laser therapy. We noticed a change in just a few days and my daughter is simply beaming!

I personally received both filler and Botox from Dr. Messina. I did my research before I made my appointment. It was important to me that he was an MD and when I discussed his experience and training with me I was blown away. As a licensed professional (I am an Attorney) it is important that the person who puts filler and botox into my face be fully trained and licensed as a physician and not anything less. I was so pleasantly surprised at the time he took with me; and the level of personal attention and care he gave to each of our sessions was very comforting. He is different than any other MD that I have ever let examine me. I cant say enough about the results too!!!
