I am getting the best manicures of my life here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is an amazing spot for all the newest nail trends; glazed donut, chrome, cat eye. The selection of finishes and colors is seriously amazing.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I came in for a pedicure and left exactly as I came. The only difference was that my nail color was fresh. When I get a pedicure, I expect my feet to look brand new and soft. That is not the case here. The girl moved extremely fast which was a red flag and when she was done, my feet looked just as dry as when I walked in and she lathered it in lotion. I do not recommend this place at all. Worst part was I was charged $52 for something a 5 year old could’ve done better.

The best place! I come here all the time with my daughter and have other relatives that seek their services too. The ladies are so kind, place is always clean, and prices are reasonable. They will take their time and not rush you out unlike your local strip mall shop. We no longer live close by and still refuse to go anywhere else for service. No doubt the best nail salon!

Critical: ValueToday was my 4th visit. I’ve been twice for just a pedicure and twice for a pedicure and gel manicure w/design. Pedicure price $36, gel manicure $35 and I have no issue with that. My issue is with the design and the quality of the design for the price. My first design consisted of hand drawn flowers with specks of gold foil on 2 nails. The charge was $15. I thought that was a little pricey but ok fine. Today I got 2 nails that should resemble watermelons. When I went to pay I was charged $85 (after my $10 deposit was applied)making the design $24!!! When I inquired as to why so high I was told it was up to the nail tech. It depends on how detailed the design and how many colors were used. The flowers I got were in May and the “watermelon” in July. 2 different nail techs. I think the flowers are definitely more detailed and included a base color, 2 colors for the flowers and the gold foil. I have been to nail salons where more seasoned/senior nail techs charge more for their design services. The difference is at those salons you booked with a specific nail tech. I was not given the option on who did my service at Mermaid Spa because I definitely wouldn’t of picked the tech that that this was $24 worth of work. I did enjoy being able to walk to get my nails done but I guess I’ll have to drive out of the area going forward.Services: Pedicure, Gel manicuresToday was my 4th visit. The customer service was not good. The young lady at the front desk isn’t pleasant at all. My nail tech didn’t say anything to me or even give her name. It felt weird. The services were just ok. The manicure was definitely better than the pedicure. The salon, shouldn’t be called a spa either. There’s no spa tub for the pedicure or spa chairs. The decor is lacking as well. It’s a neighborhood nail salon for sure, that locals probably frequent. They are very overpriced for their services and lack of amenities. Plus, they charge extra for every little add on. Even getting a French pedi is an extra $10. I wouldn’t recommend.

I absolutely love this salon! The service is so incredibly great but there is a huge downfall which is why my rating is so low for this place. It is always impossible to get serviced as a walk-in bc there is never enough staff or they are booked back to back. Every time I walk-in, I am asked if I have an appt. And for someone that is very busy and can only walk-in when available this is huge for me. If this salon is solely based off appts then they shouldn’t allow customers to walk-in, and should place a sign or advertise as “Appointment only”. I’m torn bc although I love this latina owned salon, I may consider taking my business else where.

Such a hidden gem! Came here for the first time after being at home due to quarantine for a few months and the experience is just what the Dr ordered . The place is so peaceful and cute and clean and chic. The service was phenomenal. Definitely found my new nail home! Will be coming back.

Took my wife and daughter to get their pedicure and acrylic nails done and all I could say is that the staff are extremely friendly and were super helpful in choosing exactly what type of nails my wife and daughter wanted. Both were extremely happy as soon as they got in the car haha. I will definitely be coming back again!

My daughter went twice to get acrylic nails and they looked really nice so, I decided to give them a chance with dipping powder. I wanted ombre pink and white which I’ve gotten done before at my regular place. My regular place is in wicker park and I wanted to support pilsen’s business that’s why I went here. I went with a pic of how I wanted the technician said no problem. I noticed how my ombre looked spotty with white all over and I asked the girl if she was leaving it like that and she said yes because that’s how ombre looks on dip nails. I told her I’ve gotten it done the same way somewhere else and they’ve never looked like this. I almost told her to take it off because they looked like someone practicing did them. But I kept my cool even tipped the 20 percent but I will never go back. Had she told me its not going to look that way, I would’ve changed my design with no problem but to tell me she could do it was disappointing. When I showed my sisters they couldn’t believe it either and told me to stick with my regular spot. This place is good for designs and acrylic but not for ombre dipping powder.
