It’s been several years since I’ve patronized Mena’s salon. Primarily, because I was under the impression lead stylist Nana was no longer at this location, only to find out that she is! Apparently there was a miscommunication when I called several years ago. At any rate, it was the reason I stopped visiting. Needing a quick shampoo and style as a Plan C option, I decided to call this past Friday to as a walk-in. I was pleasantly surprised that Nana answered the line and informed that I could come straight away. She was the only stylist working and there were at least four women waiting for service. The gentleman that gave my shampoo was friendly. His shampoo was refreshing to my scalp. I appreciated the massage, however he is not experienced at the comb out, setting and molding of hair for the hooded blow dryer–especially for sew-in extensions. I wish I’d had my foam and styling tools to set my own hair for the dry, because my hair was a tussled mass upon getting into the styling chair. I told Nana I wore a part and she told me to part it. I loved that. I went right in and did so. Explained I had a closure and that it had needed to dry a certain way in order to maintain the parting and style. Perhaps I should hv given the shampoo tech that insight as well, but now I know going forward. Once I parted my hair, Nana went to work blowing and straightening my hair then curling into style. I started up conversation, I mentioned that I thought she left the location, which she didn’t. We talked pandemic, family, business and before I knew it we were done. Nana realized me as a former customer upon checkout– probably because I’m a great tipper, hahaha,

I made an appointment and I specifically asked the lady how much it was going to cost me. she told me that for wash and blow-dry it was going to cost me $55. when I got there and finished with my appointment she gave me a bill of $85 I complained and told her that she told me I was going to pay 55 and she took 5 dollars off so I paid 80… I was so mad and I honestly don’t want to go back there again.
