Went in for 2 cuts, both by the owner Mellie. First cut was great, $65 which is a bit less than high-end salon pricing. Second cut, I asked for bangs. When Mellie cut the bangs, she did it very haphazardly, just kind of snipping here and there. As a result, I had basically a mullet on the left side of my face, and a longer, thinner fringe on the right side. The left side was so short, it’s been 8 months and is just now grown back enough that I can finally even it out. Price went up for second cut to $75. Please don’t charge high-end prices if you can’t even cut bangs evenly. Won’t be going back, but I’ve heard other stylists at the salon are good and their cuts are cheaper.

Terrible experience! I was show color shades on a phone (like you can really tell what you are choosing), and then followed by a color that was so much darker than what we discussed. When I was unhappy, I was told wash it and see tomorrow. When I called back the next day after washing it, I was told wash it more, and that she stood by the color that she chose. Frustrating experience! I ended up at another salon who fixed the terrible color work. I would never go back to Mellie and definitely do NOT recommend it.

I’ve always had my hair done on Newbury, but when I found out that Kate left my usual place to join this Milton salon, I decided to give it a shot. Kate did a fabulous job as always and Mellie’s cut was amazing as well. They have all the expertise and sense of style (Kate is more than willing to go through fashion magazines to show you what she has in mind for your hair) that Newbury can offer with zero snob factor. I now commute from Back Bay to Milton to have Kate and Mellie handle my hair – sounds crazy, but totally worth it!

I love this salon. Booked a last minute appointment and they squeezed me in. The salon had a good buzz when I arrived it was very busy for a Thursday evening. I was offered a beverage, and took them up on a glass of red wine. Cutest little dog was there to greet me. Sweet.
