Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityI came in with cautious expectations based on mixed reviews online and from my friends, and I was born away by how great everything was. Ann was amazing, knowledgeable, and so friendly; the staff at the front were also great; I did not at any point feel pressured to become a member as some told me I would, and that made me want to have a membership all the more! My massage lasted exactly as long as I paid for and was just what I asked. Awesome experience! I came in with cautious expectations based on mixed reviews online and from my friends, and I was born away by how great everything was. Ann was amazing, knowledgeable, and so friendly; the staff at the front were also great; I did not at any point feel pressured to become a member as some told me I would, and that made me want to have a membership all the more! Critical: ProfessionalismExcellent massage therapist. Unfortunately the manager has chosen to not wear a mask while at the desk despite interacting with customers and staff. If you are older, immunocompromised, or have close contact with high risk individuals I would not go here as management has created an unsafe environment. The risk is not worth it, the manager clearly does not value the health and safety of the patrons.Excellent massage therapist. Excellent massage therapist. Unfortunately the manager has chosen to not wear a mask while at the desk despite interacting with customers and staff. If you are older, immunocompromised, or have close contact with high risk individuals I would not go here as management has created an unsafe environment. Critical: QualityI am not one who typically writes reviews but I feel it is important to let patrons of this establishment, as well as the management, know about how bizarre my experience was today.I received a gift card for a massage ($75/one hour) last Christmas and finally was able to use it today. The staff members at the front were extremely welcoming and warm when I arrived. I found out I’d be receiving a massage from Jamie. When she came out to get me, I got a good first impression.When I entered the room I first noticed that it didn’t smell great (a bit musty/stuffy). I also noticed that the music was not very relaxing (in my opinion). After I got ready and laid down, Jamie came in and began working on my back right away. At first it felt fine. After a few minutes, however, I noticed how inconsistent of pressure she was using. There was no flow to the massage whatsoever – she would massage one side of my body in one way and the other side of my body in a completely different way, usually spending 2-3x longer on one side than the other.I asked her to apply more pressure to certain areas twice and was told “I’m still warming your body up, just wait” after already massaging that area for over 20 minutes. I had indicated that I wanted my neck, shoulders, back and hips to be the focus, but she really only spent time working on my back. When I asked her to focus on my neck for a bit she did for a moment and then went back to the same spot on my back as before. She almost never asked me if what she was doing felt good. She made me feel like my suggestions were invalid, which is why I stopped I making them.Other than barely feeling the majority of the massage due to the lack of pressure, the most bizarre part of this experience was the dialogue. She made a few comments that made no sense to me, although I chuckled them off. For example:”Wow you’ve got a lot of knots here, I’m surprised you haven’t killed anyone yet.””You are the queen today, you are in charge of the couch and the remote. No one can ruin this for you or stress you out.” ….I was very stressed out.”you’re not weird about your hair, are you?”I am glad that the staff members at the front were interested in my feedback initially, but disappointed that I never received the survey they told me the would email me about my experience. I followed up about this survey and still haven not received anything.I left Massage Envy today feeling more stressed than when I arrived. I don’t feel like I received what was paid at all. Great massage… But was not notified before hand that there is a charge for essinial oils added to your massage lotion.the receptionist just asked if I would like to add essential oil to my lotion never saying that it was an extra charge a little deceitful. Also after the massage felt pressured into scheduling another appointment or joining the club to get a massage every month.I just stated if I wanted to schedule a 9 massage I would call and make an appointment felt a little pressured. Giving three stars primarily just for the massage
