Wow. I have been here a few times and it was always great. This time I decided to get a 90 minute. They wanted me to pay first which I am not used to but not a big deal. After the massage I wanted to tip and when I said $15 she got upset. She wanted more and claimed she only gets paid in tips!!! That is ridiculous. I tip 20% minimum for food service because they make next to nothing hourly. For service people that get a better hourly or for people that own the business I tip 10 to 15%. Out of all the massages I have received I never had this happen. I really liked this place but I don’t know if I can go back. Reading through other reviews this seems to be a common problem here.

I needed a place that could take me around 7:30pm last minute and I’m so so glad I found Massage 40 Thai! It was the best massage I’ve had here in the valley. My back was very sore from moving boxes and furniture all day and they used hot stones and deep tissue massage to loosen it up. I feel so much better and definitely will be back!

Best in the Valley. Zhu is great. She is a fantastic therapist. She pays attention to what she’s doing and makes sure I am okay with the pressure and what she is doing. Very professional and very clean. It has quickly become my “go to” place when I need a great massage. Thanks!

Odd experience. Had a couples massage. During the check-in my SO had questions about the different types of massage (which were priced differently), the person kept repeating you pay first instead of answering the questions he had. I had called ahead to schedule everything. When we arrived, they put us in a room with a single bed, then asked if we wanted one room or separate rooms? I had already clarified my preferences, so was mildly disappointed to be repeating all of the details again. During the massage, my guest clarified several times that he was uncomfortable with the amount of pressure. At one point, she called him a baby?! I understand it was deep tissue but you still have to adjust your pressure to your clientele. Ultimately, he enjoyed very little of the massage at all, which was disappointing since it was his first experience. Guessing it will be a very long time before he gets a massage again. I wasn’t sure how much pressure was being used, but I do know his back was covered with bruises the next day, which made me very sad 🙁 In addition, paying up front for services makes tipping very awkward. As we were leaving she of course asked for a tip because with everything that happened I forgot. So she requested cash, which I feel they should specify that tips need to be in cash since they accept credit cards for payment, but anyway I tipped each of them 20% to which the one gal literally said “that is all”. I stopped in my tracks, completely surprised to turn and she said we live off of tips, which I know is somewhat inaccurate in massages, especially one with considerably higher prices than I’ve seen in other places and they didn’t honor the discount price we discussed, but I didn’t want to haggle price in front of my guest. I would not recommend this place at all based on many different factors of my visit. There are so many other places that offer better customer service in the east valley for much more reasonable prices. I can recommend several if you need them.

DO NOT GO HERE! My friend and I went for a couples massage and the ladies did not follow any proper protocol. I am not even sure that the sheets were cleaned between my massage and the person before me. It was abnormally warm and humid in there, and nothing looked cleaned except the front entrance. The ladies did not ask if the pressure was okay and hardly said a word. There is a reason they are on Groupon!!!! When having me flip over the lady repeatedly said face up, so when I went face up she grabbed my side and said flip forcefully, when I was just confused because I was face up. She didn’t drape the sheet over me and I was completely exposed. 10/10 don’t recommend this place or experience. Lowkey should call a health inspector

My boyfriend got me a groupon voucher from here but it was expiring within the next week. I made an appointment 5 days prior for 12pm. As I came in, the front desk lady said I didn’t have an appointment and she couldn’t take me in. Whoever answered my call booked me for 11am when they told me 12pm. I was kind of shrugged off to be honest and she asked if I want to reschedule later on, but my schedule is full. It was a waste of my time and gas driving just for me to waste my groupon voucher.

Mixed reviews but I decide to take a chance.Upon arrival, we put me in a room and began the massage without asking about any spots to focus on or any sensitive areas (injuries, ect…). The business phone was ringing throughout my massage and my masseuse stopped my massage to answer it and another woman came in the continue my massage. This happened multiple times within one hour. Then after the massage, they actually asked me for a tip multiple times.Overall, the massage wasn’t the worst, though certainly not the best. I wish the business the best. The massage was great, I slept better that night than I have in a long time due to less pain. The one problem I had was when I told her what the tip would be she asked me to add five dollars to it. I was tipping through my credit card, while she said she preferred cash and then she added two dollars to the amount I told her. I will go back because it was a great massage but it will be my last time if I have the same issue regarding the tip
