It was my first time at a barber shop and with short hair and Mason was so helpful on cleaning up my growing hair, but still keeping it more soft and natural (and lady like). Critical: ProfessionalismI had been going to Glen at Mason and Binder for every haircut for the last 2.5 years. He is great.The poor review stems from Alex, one of the barbers. A few months ago, while my friends and I were getting our monthly cuts, made an egregious homophobic joke. It was so unprofessional that Glen and the other barbers apologized profusely. Alex continued to make unsavory comments until the other barbers explicitly made him cut it out.I returned today to change my upcoming appointment. Alex appeared to be helpful; however, simply changing the appointment he became pushy and rude. He also made a comment that was clearly out of annoyance of my request, a “nd stating sarcastically you know you could just have done this online…” as if I hadnt already booked the appointment online. It is then I decided I can no longer patronize a business that employees an individual this caustic towards polite, loyal customers.I explained to Alex that because of his homophobic comments, and apparent attitude, I would simply cancel my appointment and book elsewhere. Mason, the owner, watched and heard this whole interaction, but stood silent. Its hard for me to view this as anything close to resembling solid customer service. Never even offered an apology.I will no longer continue going to this barber shop under such circumstances, nor will I refer anyone further to them. I was solely going because glen Landry gives a great haircut and is a super nice guy. And I certainly will miss that.Otherwise, this barber shop becoming less and less of a value. No longer offer drinks. No longer wash or dry hair. EDIT: Their hair cuts are good, but no where near the best in Nola after trying out comparable places in the neighborhood.
