My scalp kept getting burned during my blow out a silk press but the lady never tried to stop. The hair stylist was offended when I politely declined a trim this visit and stated I would most likely get one next visit. She complained how damaged she thought my hair was and did not bend the ends to add style. She didn’t even style the hair because she was so upset that I didn’t want a trim. When I asked her what a price difference was for a dubi because she brought up the option, she stopped talking to me. This was very uncomfortable for me. My scalp still hurts from where she over heated my scalp. My hair looks okay, but I won’t come back because of the careless burning during and the poor customer service. The place was clean. Excellent prices if you don’t mind being burned and rude customer service.

Horrible salon. Don’t bother. I came in for a relaxer and they wanted to charge an additional $35 to dry my hair. So a relaxer is literally just that you will walk out with wet hair.

Waited 3 hours and didn’t get my hair blown out. each and every time that I come here, it’s usually a 3 hour wait. When the girl got to my hair she took a call and had me sitting in the chair for 10 more minutes. I left with my hair undone and it really bothered me. What a waste of my time. I can wait, but 3 hours is insane. I would expect this place to be much quicker in understanding the customers time. I understand it gets packed but it’s unfair when you’ve been waiting most of your day. I just wish there was better communication. I’ve been coming to Mary’s salon for 11 years, the one in Newark, but I will be looking for another salon and will be taking my services elsewhere.

They were very accommodating. I had back surgery and had not been able to take care of my hair. I have long natural hair. They made sure I was first comfortable and then combed my hair out, didn’t once make me feel offended. It was an extremely comfortable experience and I would recommend them to my friends.

Critical: ProfessionalismI am not someone who doesn’t normally leave comments, but what I experienced here I feel should be announced. The customer service is horrible, they are not welcoming whatsoever. No one will greet you nor will they ask you “ How can I help you?” They will just stare & go about their conversation. It was me & 3 other black ladies who were waiting to be serviced, and they took the Spanish ladies that just walked in the salon before taking us. It took one of the girls about to walk out before they will service us. It’s only one lady there that was kind, and willing to help and that was the lady washing hair at the last chair. A black woman complained about how one of the girls had an attitude washing her hair. Nice salon, but the customer service is trash. I took my 9 year old daughter here and they did an amazing job!! I’ll be going back soon to get my done as well!! The salon is nice and clean and the women were friendly! Hairstyling
