Mango is a full-service Aveda hair salon offering cuts, color, highlighting, balayage, smoothing treatments, perms, and facial waxing. The salon is a locally owned business that started 20 years ago with its original location on Libbie Avenue. Today, there are three locations to serve guests in Richmond and Henrico, along with an in-house apprenticeship and training program called Mango Academy. Our team has highly-trained Designers—at every level of their career, ready to meet a wide variety of beauty budgets. During each hair appointment at Mango you will receive a professional consultation, relaxing shampoo, and a soothing scalp massage. Finally, you will receive the most advanced techniques in hair coloring, cutting and styling.

Stephanie is amazing! From my very first appointment with her, she’s always listened carefully to my hair preferences and clarified the entire way through to make sure we were always on the same page. She’s done a fantastic job washing, cutting, and styling my hair every time I’ve seen her, without fail. I get so many compliments after I leave Mango, and thanks to her I’m always in love with my hair now! On top of that, she’s an incredibly kind and warm person. I always enjoy going to see her, not only because I’ll have an awesome haircut in the end, but because she’s also really sweet and fun to talk to. Mango is a very nice salon and it’s always super clean and inviting- but I think Stephanie is what makes Mango truly great.

This is how Henri just ruined my hair. This is supposed to be a slight angle in the front. I went in asking for several inches off and long layers. They upped the charge because it wasn’t in the system as a long hair cut which was fine but I ended up with hair 2-3 inches shorter then requested and with huge chunky layers and this awful angle which was nothing like we discussed. How is this considered an angle? I should have read prior reviews because apparently this is a pattern. Paid $150 including the tip for just a haircut that is just awful.

Most expensive and worst haircut and highlight I have ever had. They offered to have me come back and fix it for free with another stylist, so I did…. My hair is still over processed and dry, not a proper highlight. The added toner on my second visit temporarily helps but I have two clearly different colored layers of hair on top/underneath (again, not highlights). The cut is nothing like the original picture I showed both stylists. The first tried to thin my hair instead of layer, the second tried to fix it and left it uneven. Both stylists lacked experience for the price and the expected standard of an Aveda salon.

Critical: QualityI got my hair cut by Stephanie. I showed her pictures of my hair from a previous cut that I wanted done again. I was getting a significant amount of hair cut off after not having my hair cut for 2 years. The hair wash was incredible. The shampoo smelled good and the hot towel wrap was a nice touch. Stephanie was very professional and nice but the lack of experience was apparent when I walked out of the salon. I asked for medium short length, long layers, face framing, and ends thinned out. I got uneven length, super blunt ends, very choppy layers. There was no blending and no movement in my hair. I felt like my hair looked like a mop. I was able to get the cut fixed two days later at a different salon and the stylist I went to was able to fix it and give me the cut I asked for. this is the worst haircut I have ever had. I specifically chose Henry because he ” specialized” in bob cuts which is what I had I just wanted to make it shorter but ended up with multiple layers on the side and back, uneven butchered layers. I have to tie my hair even at home because I just can’t stand looking at it. I literally have to wait 3-4 before I can have another haircut, even then it has to be cut real short to fix this disaster
