Mama Keita’s African Braiding

Critical: ProfessionalismI’ve been going to this shop for over 20 years. In the last 4 years I’ve been maybe 10 times and the professionalism has gone to the toilet. They change the price once the job is done… they’ve had me waiting on each occasion for hours! Once I waited 4 hours. All Mama Keita kept saying is “she’s on her way”. Today, I get my hair done same thing, hour late and tried to overcharge me for some micro braids. I left without paying because I was just fed up! Mama Keita called me and threatened to have me “touched” if I didn’t bring her money. The conversation was recorded. She then went to say she’s from Africa and to keep that in mind as I don’t know what she can do to me. Insane. I’ve been going to this shop for over 20 years. In the last 4 years I’ve been maybe 10 times and the professionalism has gone to the toilet. They change the price once the job is done… they’ve had me waiting on each occasion for hours! Once I waited 4 hours. All Mama Keita kept saying is “she’s on her way”. Today, I get my hair done same thing, hour late and tried to overcharge me for some micro braids. I left without paying because I was just fed up! Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, QualityI’ve visited this salon on multiple occasions, I’ve never had bad service or a bad treatment, but on my most recent visit (03/12/2021) I was kept waiting 30 minutes for my appointment, which I didnt mind, but then the owner came an said she had a lady coming in to do my knotless braids so more waiting another 20 minutes, which I found extremely rude. I get in the chair show a picture of how I wanted my hair medium size knotless braids this lady say ok I can do it , she starts and shows me the size of the braids and it was as I asked. Now this lady keeps stopping telling me and Mama Ketia she isn’t feeling well so I’m like ok but she keeps braiding . So on one of the times she stops I look in the mirror an tell her these are getting a little to big and are NOT Knotless, I’m not liking them so far, she says ok I will fix them OK.So she stops again for food and I tell her again my hair needs to be full and these braids need to be longer. So she finally finished my hair and I look in the mirror and hate it!! The braids are not fully knotless and are much bigger than I like. Now I have been in this shop since 12:30pm it is now 8:00pm . Now she still has the ends of my hair to do but wants to leave do to her not feeling good and another lady is to finish my hair, at this point I’m like what the hell!! She asked me to pay her I say NO PROBLEM, I give her the money and asked who would be fixing my hair because this is not how I wanted my hair. They began to argue in their language (10 mintues)which was very rude.Mama Keita comes over and says she’s going to take it down and fix it meaning the lady who originally did the work, but she began to almost cry telling this lady she doesn’t feel good so I tell the owner that I would like her to fix the situation. She tells me NO .I’M NOT GOING TO DO THAT BECAUSE THE LADY THAT STARTED THE HAIR NEEDS TO DO SO! I again asked are you the owner/manager she says you but I’m not doing it your hair looks good. I was disatisfied with the attitude I recieved from the owner (Keita )was appauling. She suggested I sit and let the woman that is saying she is sick take my hair ALL down and fix the problem. Yeah not going to happen!! I then asked the owner to fix the issue she begins to yell at me due to me not wanting the sick lady to fix my hair. No offer of a refund or another style on a later date (not that I would ever go there again anyway) Im so discusted with this service, And I hate my hair that I spent $200 on.
