The people were really nice. They greeted me, but didn’t speak to me directly during my appt, most likely due to the communication barrier. They are definitely overpriced and for what they charge they should do some upgrades to their environment to make it more professional. The blow dryer and curling iron the stylist was using was in a plug outlet that was literally uncovered and hanging. Huge electrical hazard. And the walls were dirty. Additionally, whatever product they used on my hair had a bad smell and even after I washed it, it didn’t come out. The also burn your hair with the extreme blow dry heat and excessive curling with curlers that are overheated. My hair had a burn smell the whole time which remained even after washing it. The smell was nauseating. When I did wash my hair, it was so damaged that it constantly shed. I was not impressed. Not for me, I will not be returning back. And also they should tell you on the phone they only take cash and inform you how much your service will be.

Critical: ProfessionalismMagdalena’s hair salon was a place I took my daughter as a young girl years ago.. my most recent experience with them was much worse than what I remember. I don’t know whom manages the scheduling of appointments for this salon, but after asking what time they open and the time provided was different then that which is advertised on their website.. they still scheduled me for a time in which the salon is not open.. I feel this salons biggest challenges is time management.. with the language barrier at a close second. All of their cons diminish tremendously their pros. They had one stylist that could actually communicate half decent however I believe she also lapses in and out of reality as when I recently walked in to pay for my daughter and announced such all the stylist acknowledged my presence and responded with silence. I feel that this family business could benefit from a refresher course in customer service.. additionally, the lack of awareness they ALL possess regarding scalding patrons truly need to be worked out ASAP.. this salon takes “beauty is pain” to a whole new level.You guys gotta do better! Critical: Quality, ValueMy wife has unfortunately had a very poor experience with this salon. She took a chance on this place in an effort to get her hair straightened for our anniversary, but instead she ended up with damaged hair from her appointment. She’s expressed how the hairstylist barely addressed her but rather was talking on the phone while yanking at my wife’s hair. Mind you, this is her first time at this salon. She expressed how the hairstylist applied too much heat to her hair (duration of time using blow dryer & then flat ironing it). Her hair was stiff afterwards and two weeks later it no longer curls after it’s been wet and has visible damage. My wife is natural and has been growing her hair out for eight years and now she is contemplating cutting it off and starting over due to the irreversible damage. This all stemmed from her experience at Magdalenas. From the poor customer service to the lack of care and concern during the service, I myself am disappointed that this has happened. As soon as I walked in I should have turned around and left. The first thing I noticed was it was dirty in every sense of the word. It smelled bad like a dog. The bathroom was filthy. The staff was not friendly at all and they spoke their language most of the time so you did not know if they were talking about you or not. My beautician was nice but I was not pleased with the end result and the back of my head is very sore. I saw combs being dropped on the dirty floor andpicked up wiped off on a dirty towel and continued with doing someones hair. I am so very very sorry I went to Magdalena’s Unisex Salon and I will never go back. I wasted so much money and to have bad results is horrible. I blame myself for not turning around and getting in my car and going home. This was by far my worse hair experience of my life. I would give a zero rating if I could but I had to pick 1 star in order to put in my review. By the way my appointment was in the morning so it is clear they do not clean often. Cleanliness is very important to most people.

This is an AWESOME salon! My daughter’s hair is virgin and is very thick and the Dominican Blowout straightened her hair as good as a perm! The staff were very friendly and quick considering they are a walk-in salon. Virginia did her hair and she nailed it! I’m definitely satisfied and will be taking her there regularly. Highly recommended!
