I came here to buy hair color (to do at home) and thought someone here would be able to help me pick out a color to match my current hair color. But I was just told to look at the screen and pick out what I wanted with no help. I could have gotten the hair color online if I knew that the store provided no help with choosing a color.

I’ve given this location three chances. My last visit was the nail in the coffin. I had a Madison Reed scratch-to-reveal coupon for a free gloss and mistakenly left the physical coupon at home. The deal expired at the end of the month so I needed to use the coupon at this visit. I offered to pay for the gloss service— it was my mistake, I’d forgotten the coupon after all — and asked if I could be refunded if I went home and returned with the coupon code. The sales person made a phone call to his supervisor and was told a quick “no”. I was surprised especially as I offered to pay for the service and be reimbursed only after presenting them with the coupon. This experience happened after I gladly accommodated their request the prior day to reschedule my appointment due to plumbing issues, even though the reschedule wasn’t convenient. Very poor customer experience for sure. I will not be back to your color bar.

Great service and color! My hairstylist even commented on how natural my strawberry blond hair looks. No more harsh chemicals, strong smells and burning itching scalp.

I went in to buy a root color touch-up and asked for exactly that…When I got home I saw that they had given me the wrong product. The phone number attached to this location goes to a customer service center, not the location itself so you cannot even speak to the people here.

I was to extend my thanks to the manager, Jamal, assistant manager Christina, and associate Mickie at the Chestnut Hill color bar. . Today was extraordinarily busy and yet all three continued to be gracious, and respectful of all patrons. They never stopped working, asking if we wanted water, keeping us updated. I was there three hours since I came in to ask Jamal to solve my color which was too dark. Despite being at the end of the day, Jamal and his team were so engaged in helping me solve my color issues. Thank you to Jamal, Christina, and Mickie.

I’m a regular at this location. Jamal was very attentive, explained my service, offered additions to my service and processed my color. Mickey (Hope I’m spelling this correctly) did my blow-out. She’s fantastic! I’m getting many compliments on the color & style! See you soon!!!

Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI had my first visit at Madison Reed & had hair color/roots done in store by Kyra who did a fantastic job. She was knowledgeable in consulting about the color to use to cover the gray, & to blend in with my existing brown/ highlighted hair color. She was patient with my questions & very professional in answering them. I was very pleased with the results, and friends have told me how great the added color evened out the brassiness in my hair.Service: Hair coloringI had my first visit at Madison Reed & had hair color/roots done in store by Kyra who did a fantastic job. Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueI came to the salon on 10/30 for root touchup and a gloss. I specially told the colorist that I did not want a cool or ashy tone applied to my balayage. Unfortunately he did not listen. The gloss he applied turned my hair a greenish grey color. They tried to correct the tone by applying another gloss with a warmer undertone. This did help a little but once I shampooed my hair, the green color was very noticeable. Total waste of money and now I will have to spend $$$ on a color correction at a proper salon.Services: Hair coloring, Gloss or GlazeI came to the salon on 10/30 for root touchup and a gloss. Critical: Professionalism, QualityApparently there are several colors to choose from, I was offered 2 because the person coloring my hair told me these were the only ones that would work to cover grays. I should have left at that point. I don’t know his name because he never introduced himself. He left the color on and never came back until someone at the front desk realized I was long overdue. Washing my hair was a nightmare. He was extremely rough and there was hair color all over my face which he tugged at with an alcohol solution that had was so harsh my eyes were tearing and I asked him to stop. I went to dry my hair and clumps were coming out. I have been getting my hair colored for decades and this has never happened.I told the woman at the front desk I didn’t like the color and she didn’t want to hear it, her goal was to get me out the door. I went in with healthy brown hair and came out with damaged, flat almost black hair. 2 days later and it is still looking awful. My hair is so flat and dark I look like Morticia Adams on Halloween.Service: Hair coloringApparently there are several colors to choose from, I was offered 2 because the person coloring my hair told me these were the only ones that would work to cover grays.
