I am a 2+ year member of monthly roots service of Madison Reed and used the Allen Bar for over a year. I rarely write reviews. But my recent experiences three times in a row prompted me to write this: 1. My highlights were nowhere close to what I wanted but I was traveling and could not immediately go back to get it fixed. 2. Next time I went, the gentlemen colorist proceeded to loudly tell me that I am wrong that my highlights were perfect and that they had “faded” – I have lived on this planet for 50+ years to know a good highlight from a bad one. So I asked for hair gloss and he forgot to put it. At checkout he told me he was crediting a free gloss and that it would be valid for one time use within the next 3 months. 3. I recently went back for my regular root touch up and asked for hair gloss. The lady sternly looked at my profile and said that it had been a very long time since I had had a gloss – it was strange comment that I let it go. She applied the gloss but at checkout they refused to honor the previous credit for my hair gloss. They made me wait for a long time claiming that there was nothing in my account and finally told me to wait some more. I did not have time for such nonsense and paid for it and walked away. I am seriously considering cancelling my roots membership- while it is convenient it is not worth the customer service rendered.

This was my first time getting my hair colored at Madison Reed, and I was extremely impressed. I’ve been having a tough time going from a dark hair color to a lighter level that matched my natural color. The stylist I got, Maura, was super kind and very knowledgeable. I told her I was trying to match my then-lightened orangish hair to my light brown roots. After trying a toner which didn’t take, she took extra time [even when the business was packed due to the Plano location AC being out], and redid my hair until it was done right. She matched it perfect, and I am so happy with it. No stylist has been able to match my hair color so well. I will most certainly be a regular to get any color services I need done from now on. These ladies know color! 😀

This was my first trip to Madison Reed Color Bar Allen, and I have to say, I was a little disappointed that the assigned Hair Color Specialist (I know her name, but I won’t bash people) just wanted to upsale my services (I had booked root touch up) and she argued that I had to upgrade to all over color based on the Color Selection I had picked. Hair Color Specialist Adrianna was awesome; she was so sweet and genuine and appears to really enjoy helping the customers. I’m sorry I didn’t get the lady who shampooed on that day, but she was real nice and seemed genuine too. I love the outcome of the color chosen, and this is a really busy salon as they book a client every 15 minutes and their are only 8 total chairs, so no social spacing for COVID precautions and I didn’t see them disinfect in between the customers one time. Overall, a desired result, but a little disappointment with the Management actions.

Critical: QualityI went in hoping to go all blonde from dark brown/orange, the hairdresser told me they do not offer that service so instead we opted for a balayage with two LIGHT brown shades I picked, my hair was bleached, colored, and (supposedly) toned. Following the wash I had clumps fall out at the salon while I blow-dried. The results were non-existent, they finished and my hair looked the exact same as when I arrived. The only difference was I had less hair on my head and it was redder than when I walked in. Was very disappointed they let me walk out of the salon like that. Here is a before and after. Virtually no difference, despite a bleach and coloring.Services: Balayage, Hair coloringI went in hoping to go all blonde from dark brown/orange, the hairdresser told me they do not offer that service so instead we opted for a balayage with two LIGHT brown shades I picked, my hair was bleached, colored, and (supposedly) toned. …More

Critical: QualityI’m busy and I had been doing my hair at home with esalon. I thought, I’ll spoil myself and have it done and try out Madison Reed. He dyed my forehead and My ear. The washer tried to get it off with no luck. I look like a leopard! I am in the military and have to have a ponytail EVERYDAY. So embarrassing! They gave me $30 for next time. Part of root left uncolored and my t-shirt got soaking wet during the wash. Lady was nice enough to put it in the dryer, but unfortunately it was still wet. Worst was I paid $60, and grey roots were left. Old owner never did this. Madison Reed hair color is fabulous and always gets my roots, at home when I do it! Hair coloring

I cannot stress how disrespectful the staff can be. This place is very unorganized, unprepared, and understaffed. Along with all of this, the staff is always, always!!! late to the appointments. A couple weeks ago I came in to get my, (previously booked) hair done, and I had to wait 35 minutes to be seated because my original hair stylist left to “get a coke”, and so they switched me around. When I was sat, I had to wait an extra 10 minutes, and when the manager came over to do my hair, she asked if I was a minor and I said yes, and she said they couldn’t do minors hair. She has been doing my hair for awhile now, and this is the first time she had told me this. And on top of that, when I first started coming to her, she had a profile of me, including my age, name, etc. I looked at the code of conduct and as long as a guardian or parent is present you are able to get your hair colored. She told me that they couldn’t do my hair “at all”. I was disrespected not only because of my age, but also with my time. They “forgot” to tell me this when I got there, and finally after 35 minutes of wasting my time, told me. I would highly highly suggest you get your hair done somewhere else. This place was the worst hair salon I have ever been too.

Was very nervous about using a new color salon but I love my hair color. They took the time to talk to me about my hair and what I wanted to do. Yes I have gray hairs that needed to be covered at the roots. I could have done just my roots but I chose an all over color. You can buy a kit to do at home. This is a color salon only.
