Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ValueOn December 8, at approximately 6:30 PM, I came in to M&M nails for a toe polish and a new set of gel nails. I knew they were close to closing and the owner made that clear, so I asked him if he’d please have time to squeeze me in. He said yes, and sent me over to a young lady for my toe polish. Although an hour left before closing, she rushed to get my toes polished as if she were in a contest. Once done, I instantly noticed that my big toe was very bumpy and the polish was not smooth, as gel polish should be. Because I had acrylic on my big toe, she was suppose to file it evenly and assure my nail bed was flat. I brought this to the owners attention before (he) started my nails.When the owner started my nails, he too, rushed like no other. It took him maybe 20-25 minutes to do a full set of nails. You could imagine how rushed of a job this was. I chose white as my solid base color. White has to be super neat because it’s a light color and it shows well against my melanin skin. Not only was the polish sloppy, but none of my nails were properly shaped. It looked as if someone practiced their craft on my hands…. Not like a professional did their job properly. And definitely didn’t look like $45 worth of work! I expressed my dissatisfaction to the owner regarding my toes. Unfortunately, I did not realize how bad my nails were until I left because he rushed me so bad to get out. He told me to “come back tomorrow and he would fix my toes.” Because I was leaving for my family vacation the very next morning, I was unable to come back for a fix. Not to mention, I needed everything done correctly for the trip. I paid $100 for my bill and left. The owner didn’t have change so he had to comp me $10 on my next visit.Today, January 8, 2022…. I am now back from my vacation and in need of a mani and pedi. Upon arriving, I immediately told the wife of my last experience and that I’d like them to fix the issue. I also showed pictures of the work from before. She said “okay” and my spouse and I proceeded to get our pedicures. My pedicure was great. Now it’s time for my nails and the husband does my nails, which I was advised they’d “fix the issue from before” and it had to be the same tech that messed up the original set. He laid the acrylic then sent me to his wife for the polish because he stated she was better at the type of art I wanted. Before I proceeded with my last request of an eyebrow wax, I confirmed with the wife that my toes and nails would be taken care of in some form or fashion. She said I had to speak with her husband because she knew nothing about our last encounter, as she wasn’t there. I asked her would she pay for the work they did and she never answered me! Of course not!Her husband comes out from the back, finally, and he instantly starts to scream and speak to me in an unruly tone. I was very embarrassed and shocked. He took off $10, which was owed to me from my change, and $10 more for the bad nail and toe job previously. $10?????? I paid $100 my last visit and $157 today! I told him I wasn’t pleased with that decision and he asked me “what did I want, everything free?” ABSOLUTELY NOT! As a business owner myself, I totally understand the value of their work and I never take that for granted! However, I am a paying customer and I value my dollar as well. I literally walked away twice now, totally upset with my services and feeling like I wasted money. I’m an educator. I work very hard for everything I have. The issue was never the amount. It was the principal of the matter. He finally agreed to half off of my nails ONLY, which still doesn’t satisfy me. I was truly never compensated for the horrible jobs before today. Now today, my nails still look flawed. On each nail, you can see the old acrylic and a yellowish tent.
