Someone else noted this–came here a few months ago–it is under VERY new management….if you know what I mean. Hel-lo! Had come here for years for *actual* massages and have been glad to have inexpensive massage place to go to. It’s a *different sort of massage n ow.

went in for a 30 minute massage for $40 and gave her $60 in advance and asked for $10 back. she stopped at 20 minutes and magically couldn’t understand any English about my change. set a timer and tip after if you don’t have another choice of location.

Last night I booked a last minute appointment and thankfully they weren’t busy. The setup is modest compared to a common massage salon, and while I tried to adapt to what I worried would be a discomfort – it seemed inevitable. You do not have privacy during your massage simply because there isn’t a ceiling above your “room.” They simply built up screened walls. As people (and I mean everyone) walked by, in and out- you could clearly hear all conversations. Also when my masseuse walked in and out of my “room” to get hot rocks and such, I never heard the door shut behind me. I would also assume by now that they can afford a painter to fix up the not-so-clean bathroom where the walls were covered in graffiti, I mean I won’t complain if this was in a bar or something but not what you want to see after getting a peaceful massage- well at least trying to make the most of one. To top it all off the masseuse had the audacity to ASK me for a tip, and also told me I should give her $10 while I was writing $3, (btw there’s a $4 card fee) so I just crossed out the tip as a whole and decided to not give any! It’s always the ones who give bad service that beg for a good review or more money. I can’t stand a beggar in professionalism. And that’s just what they lacked here, professionalism. – oh and the massage was not great either, as I’m writing this I’m working off a back sore which wasn’t there before my massage last night.

Upon entering Ly Jen Therapy Salons, I noticed that the establishment was clean and quiet. There was a T.V. on in the lobby/foot massage area but the volume of the T.V. was turned all the way down. The staff greated us with smiles and prompt service. As I walked to the massage area, I did notice that the areas were divided by paper walls with wooden frames. It would be an inefficient use of space, if more solid walls were put up. My privacy was respected by the staff and maintained throughout my massage.

Came here after a knot near my shoulder blade and gotten so bad I couldn’t sleep. They get in deep and are thorough and I can’t emphasize enough what a relief it was. Fantastic value too: $40 for 45 minutes. Only drawback is the massage areas are only separated by thin dividers so you can hear all the conversations between employees in the lobby which is a bit distracting

This is not your fancy massage parlor. But if you’re in the area and you just need a good massage, this is one of the best massage places in Chinatown. They know all the good points to apply pressure and do a good job at it. I didn’t give it a 5 star because the room temperature is not always warm and the masseuses talk with each other while they are with their clients which disturbs the peace.

This evening I stopped in for a one hour massage. The woman that greeted me was borderline rude and that should have been my cue to walk out. The massage rooms are small and very noisy. During the massage the noise level remained high, a combination of a blaring radio and employees talking loudly in the front the salon. Thin paper walls do not muffle sound. The therapist was pretty cold, made no attempt to determine if I had any troubled areas and seemed unhappy that she had to give me a massage. Unfortunately her social skills were far superior to her massage skills. Lastly I asked for a pillow for my head and I was handed an old, vinyl covered pillow that had cracks in the vinyl.
