I was approached by the owner Ellie to do powder brows for free in exchange for some social media posts. I agreed and enjoyed my first experience. The powder brow didn’t hurt much because of the numbing cream and I liked the result. As anyone who has gotten microbladed or powder brows done, you get the first session then a follow up to catch anything that may have been missed FOR FREE. We had discussed in a direct message that I would come in, she serviced me, she took pictures for her instagram page, I waited in the lobby for my cab and then she messages me on Instagram 90 min later to say I didn’t pay her for the service. I was shocked. This has never happened to me, how do you ask for money for a service AFTER the person leaves. I mentioned that my understanding was that the service was free and included with the first session but she insisted that it was not and to Zelle her the money. So I did because I don’t want to argue over $100 but honestly feel bamboozled into becoming a customer when she initially reached out to me to do social media posts in exchange for her service. I only went because I thought it was free, if I was going to pay for a service, I would have went somewhere close to my house instead of a $40 cab ride. I would have been happier to pay the service if she had made it clear from the beginning and communicated but it felt like she was trying to trick me. I was turned off by this because I felt I was trying to be a fair partner but I felt I got the short end of the stick. Just posting so others can be aware.
