Critical: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThere is absolutely no way I could possibly communicate exactly just how unprofessional, horrible quality and next to zero communication we experienced using Leisure World of Charleston, WV. I had saved and waited almost 10 years to install my dream pool. I was prepared to spare no expense and wanted the best around the area to install so that my experience would be everything that I had hoped for after so many years of waiting. It ended up being the absolute WORST NIGNTMARE of my life. They started off not so great while providing the initial estimates on pricing for pool and installation. This was done with their sales associate “Eric”. After selections were made I then paid a down payment to secure my installation date etc. There were so many issues and lack of communication from that point forward that I don’t even have enough space in this review to review them all. It is also important to make everyone aware that Leisure World was bought and under new management as of April of 2020. The new owner is a horrible person and a crook. We ended up having to hire an attorney in order to get them to even show back up and complete the installation here. It took us right at 5 months to get them to finish what they did and are currently now still facing taking them to court because they were supposed to finish install of deck jets and spillover for tanning ledge once concrete surround was installed. It’s been 11 months now and they still haven’t finished install and have been paid in full. They took on installing our tanning ledge and should NEVER have agreed to to that. They lied to us and said they did them all the time. Come to find out ours was the first one they had ever installed and completely messed up on install and we had to force them to redo the work 3 times in order to get it properly installed. It was a total mess. The owner didn’t even bother to show up to assist his inexperienced workers (two of which are his sons) in order to make sure that this difficult install that they had never done before was done correctly. The amount of things that were wrong with our install is a mile long. Not exaggerating. What the owner does is take on a bunch of orders and then will go start the job to get it completed just enough in order to get payment from the factoring company that he uses. Then he will leave your job to go start another job so he can receive payment on that job as well from factoring. He doesn’t care how long it takes him to get back to your project because he already received his money from the factoring company. So if you have to set there and wait all summer he could care less. For those who do not know what factoring is you should look it up for clarification. Basically though Factoring is where a company will cover and pay a company for their invoices in advance for a small fee. So say Leisure World has an invoice for pool install for $30,000. If they have a contract with a factoring company then they can submit that $30,000 invoice and receive the remainder of the payment due to them from factoring company instead of having to wait for it at the completion of project from the customer. The factoring company will pay them let’s say $28,500 ($1,500 fee) on the $30,000 invoice. That is how factoring company makes money amd it’s how business like Leisure World doesn’t have to wait to have revenue coming in to keep their business going. They are getting paid as soon as they can show factoring company pictures showing pool in the dug hole and pumps set. Doesn’t mean the plumbing. Back fill, concrete surround etc etc has to be competed. Only the first few basic things completed and factoring company pays them in full. Then sender they get back around to you to finish they will. They then receive your payment in full and pay back factoring company for the invoice. All that time though remember the pool company received payment in full like 2-3 days into install. They will lie and make up every excuse as to why they can’t get back to your installation. Critical: QualityI bought new gas logs in May 2020. I used my new gas logs twice. The flame and pilot light shuts completely off. I called today and asked about the warranty work. I was told the earliest service call would be THREE WEEKS! Horrible customer service! I asked the lady if she had anything earlier and her reply? Nope! Then she hung up on me! I was told the earliest service call would be THREE WEEKS! Horrible customer service! I asked the lady if she had anything earlier and her reply? Nope! Then she hung up on me! Never Ever will I shop or purchase another item. Also, I pray someone asks me about my logs!!!!!

Critical: ProfessionalismI have twice made an appointment with this company for the yearly maintenance of my gas logs. The first time I made the appointment on my day off work. Never heard anything all morning so I called to find out when to expect them. They had forgot to call me, but they had a broken down vehicle and could not go out on the appointments for that day. They were so sorry (they said) so I rescheduled. This time my appointment was made for them to call me when they were headed to my house so I could work until they called. My appt. was on a Friday so I double checked on Tuesday to confirm it. Oh yes, I was to be the 3rd job for that day. I called Friday morning to make sure I was still scheduled for that day and they said I was the 3rd job and they would call before heading to my house. Never heard anything from them. Totally undependable. Leisure World of Charleston WV was an absolute nightmare to deal with. We did not have any experience with in ground pools and left it to the professionals. Just to get an estimate was delayed 3 times without any notice or phone call. When that was finally resolved and the estimate was in hand, the salesman changed the install date 2 more times without a phone call (understandable since it was a rainy month in August 2017). Once the installer arrived, he refused to do the install because a permit was never secured. The salesman told us this was going to be handled by the installer then he told us that the location of pool was not acceptable by city code and we would have to go to a special meeting to receive the permit. My wife and I went through the process of receiving the permit and almost a year later, we had to go through the finance process again, scheduled the install, no communication from salesman or owner. The installer was a 3rd party who did a wonderful job. I actually have text from the owner asking me to call the installer and set up times to finish up the job. I expressed my issues with the owner only to be spoken to with attitude and excuses. He told me that there was no pool cover in the original agreement, yet we have it in writing and are currently seeking legal opinion on this as well as reporting this to the Better Business Bureau since the safety pool cover was confirmed to be part of the purchase by an employee of the company. Our biggest issues with them is the lack of communication and the fact that we have spent almost $50,000 to be talked to and treated like we bought a $10 kiddie pool at Walmart. I would suggest finding an installer and going that route as Leisure World is merely a middleman salesman and contract everything out to a 3rd party. Most people do not know a lot about in-ground pool installs, and why would you? It isn’t the customer’s job to know much, but you will get a serious lesson in it when you have to do most of the contract work yourself. Since the install, I have had some neighbors ask about the processes as they wanted a pool as well. 2 of them went with a different company and the 3rd said it sounded like a nightmare and nixed the idea completely. If a pool cover would have been provided, since it was acknowledged and verified by an employee who was speaking on behalf of the business, I would have simply chalked this up to a “live and learn moment”. Now they have missed out on more business and I have no issues telling people my opinion, in person ,or online. Could have been resolved with a $300 safety cover from amazon. Such a shame. To summarize – A total of 5 missed days of work for them to no call no shows at the house, being talked down to, constant excuses, placing blame every place but on them, and then telling us the information that was sent to us in writing is wrong has now lead us to never undertake such a job again with an inept company.

BUYER BEWARE!!! My parents bought a $2300 gas stove in December 2017. It never worked correctly from the beginning. Leisure World sent someone out 2 weeks later. They said they had to order a part. It is now January 26, 2018 and the stove is still not fixed. We have called repeatedly and they keep telling us they are waiting on the part. This stove is the only source of heat. My dad is 82 years old and sick. He was just released from the hospital today. I called and complained to Jennifer, asking them to provide us with something to heat with until the stove could be fixed. Jennifer told me to suck it up and buy my own heater. We were also told that we could not return stove. This is horrible customer service.
