Had a great experience with Brier, I came in just needing to cut my hair shorter because it is WAY too hot out here. We had great conversations and she was willing to adjust to my comments. All around had a wonderful time. A wonderful salon dog, Cash, was present and he laid in my lap at parts of the haircut. Very fun! Haircut

Do not recommend. I work 60 hour weeks. I made this appointment awhile ago and planned my entire day around this appointment. I work nightshift, woke up early and literally was on my way when I got a call less than an hour before my appointment saying my stylist was “sick”. So a sickness came on less than an hour before the appointment? Ridiculous. If this was a professional business another stylist would have filled in or made it work asap. Complete waste of time and I lost money because of this. Very disappointed.

How did I not happen upon this place sooner? I was given the opportunity to get a pixie cut but the owner, Geoff, and damn, he’s so good! He cut my hair entirely dry, which made me feel so confident from the start. I highly recommend Lava!!

Editing for brevity: I really want to like this place. It’s cute and people are nice. But I’ve had two pretty bad haircuts in the past six months, both involving really uneven hair lengths on each side. The first time I came back in and got it fixed. Angela was really nice and gladly did a fix, no charge. The second time I had Geoff, and it was a hot mess that I unfortunately didn’t notice till I got home. It was very uneven all over. I realize I could have gotten it fixed again but ended up fixing it on my own because I couldn’t live with it till I could get back in. I also just wanted my shaved sides cleaned up, but I ended up with a $55 full haircut charge instead of the $15 I’d anticipated based on a previous visit for the same thing. Bottom line: two cuts that required a fix by two different stylists is unfortunately enough to keep me from returning.

I have since moved from West Ashley to Summerville and make the travel because it is well worth it! Jackie is absolutely amazing and so is the rest of the staff here. I am one to change my hair up a lot and Jackie has always exceeded my expectations! She is truly a master at her craft and I can’t recommend her enough. When I first moved here I had been previously going to the same stylist for 10 years and was nervous to start over with someone new. I’m so happy I found Lava and Jackie. I initially went to this salon because of it’s excellent reputation, but also loved its unique and creative vibe. I’ve been in a lot of salons and can say I have never seen a salon like Lava.
