The first gel manicure I received was quick, thorough, and held up for WEEKS even in the face of a blue collar profession where I put my hands through the wringer. My nails grew out with the polish completely intact, not a chip to be seen.

I am new to New Jersey and have been nail salon hopping since I moved here. Finally I called La Muse Sunday morning and asked for an appointment. The lady who answered was so sweet and accommodating I was super excited to go. When I arrived I was greeted by Sue who asked me to sanitize first and then pick my color. I waited a few to be seated for my pedicure but it was well worth the wait.

First off, pedicure was amazing and so relaxing so that alone is 4 stars but unfortunately I also came for a fill as well, I was told they don’t do acrylic over the phone(but have it on their window) so they offered crystal instead. When it came down to my fill, apparently the don’t have crystal either! They oddly filled my nail with a dip powder, doesn’t look too bad but the amount of time I did spend in the salon was crucial and wasn’t relaxing after my pedicure. They do everything with a file no machine. Took about over an 1 1/2 hours from start to finish with the dip/shaping and color. 45 minutes for pedicure so I spent quit some time in this salon. If you don’t mind the slow process, it’s totally for you because at least they don’t rush you out. Other than that I will be returning for pedicures! Staff is very friendly.

They were very polite and the place looks clean. They asked me to put on a mask in summer 2022, which I was happy to do to make them more comfortable. I didn’t realize I chose a transparent color for my gel manicure. Toward the end of the gel manicure I asked why it wasn’t opaque. They said the color I choose was supposed to be transparent. They didn’t offer to do anything to make it more opaque. I wondered if they could have easily added a layer of another color, but they didn’t offer to do anything. Ultimately I chose the wrong color and will look out for that in the future but they didn’t seem to care that I didn’t get the look I wanted.

Overall the place was decent. There were two really nice and accommodating nail techs, however, the one who did my nails was quite rude and not receptive of my requests. I had asked for a full set but they failed to include full details on the procedure and the PRICE. Based on my experience with other nail salons that had acrylics, this one didn’t mention that they don’t offer them at all. Since I was unaware of that, they made the choice for to give me pcl without my knowledge or providing options for my service. In addition, despite the overall friendly staff, the lady serviced me was quite hostile and would make snarky comments even though I politely asked for changes or fixes. Some of my nails were applied unevenly and in the end, I was completely unsatisfied, coming at a large cost. There were additional issues I had experienced, too much to name in this review. Please be aware the next time you come here.

I’ve been going to La Muse for a few months now for my gel manicures/pedicures and they’re always fabulous! Regina and Sue are the best and my nails always look great. They’re personable, always efficient, they take their time & keep my nails strong and healthy. The salon itself is clean, chic and has a great feel to it. 10/10 recommend!
