I have been going to Kokoro for the past two years, and have had a great experience each time. My last appointment I had to cancel suddenly for medical reasons. My dog had surgery two days prior and the person lined up to care for her cancelled right before the appointment. I was unable to find someone else, so called them right away to rebook and let them know what had happened. They have a very strict cancellation policy, which I’m sure comes from people flaking constantly, and are upfront about it too. Per their standards, they charged me full price for the appointment and I paid it without argument. Normally, I wouldn’t think anything of this. She was counting on that income for the day, I get it. But due to the circumstances it left somewhat of a bad tase. In this case, I truly had no other option. If I had gone, my dog likely would have broken open her stitches. I realize that this policy has merit, but when you have stable clients that have situations like this, it might be a moment to reconsider. Their policy is clear, but the lack of leniency for clients that don’t have a tendency to let you down seems somewhat extreme. I have very much enjoyed going there, but if something like this were to happen again, I assume it would be the same experience. So, I will not be making anymore appointments with the salon.
