When Katie Blue Salon set up shop in June of 2010, owner Kate Bluestein brought a style and character you can’t find anywhere else in RVA. Where edgy meets elevated. Where craft is never stuffy or pretentious. And where any soul seeking absolutely fabulous hair will feel right at home. Not only did Kate create the perfect “kick up your feet” atmosphere to welcome every guest, she also filled her salon with talented stylists who share her vision and dedication to innovative technique in friendly, warm surroundings.

I called a little last minute and was booked two weeks out. I wanted a curly cut and Joanna gave me the best haircut of my life. I have kind of tricky hair with a mixed curl pattern that I have never quite been able to work with, and Joanna did absolutely AMAZING work and gave exactly what I wanted even though I didn’t really know how to describe it. I just showed her some pictures of my hair in various states and she went to work. I typically do not buy salon products but they have some amazing stuff, and I was able to take it home and actually get a decent result without using any heat. The curly cut from Joanna is a littler pricier than a regular haircut, but it is 200% worth it! I don’t live in town but I will have to make biannual trips just to get Joanna to keep my hair in shape!

Had an amazing experience with Ryanne! First with my curly girl cut in January (don’t have a before photo for this but we cut off a solid 8-10 inches) and again this month for my first ever fantasy color hair dye. She was amazing and really got to know what I wanted and communicated thoroughly before we started to make sure we were both on the same page. At the end she coached me on how to care for my hair and keep the color for as long as possible. It was more than I could have hoped for! I felt like she really cared about helping me take good care of my hair and did great at explaining things.

My Pandemic hair was a train wreck. I was cutting it myself and thankfully I met an amazing stylist named Epiphany at the best salon in Richmond , Va , Katie Blue Salon! My hair is curly and it was so damaged and dry…Epiphany gave me the Best cut and recommended products that quenched my curly hair’s thirst! I felt so Beautiful for the first time in so long and I have been back to see her again ( I need to make an appointment!) . Epiphany knows what she is doing , has an incredible energy and is so incredibly kind…I trust her implicitly with my hair. Katie Blue Salon is the place to be…Everyone is beyond helpful and professional…I highly recommend that you give them a try! You will not regret it!

Didn’t make me feel like I was cared about or my hair. Feel like my stylist needs to work on her people skills. Sitting in a chair for 4 hrs in silence is kinda weird. For 2 appointments at that. Not really explaining the process except for the first meeting.

Lawrence is amazing! Hands down the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. The communication was perfection and I felt so at ease the entire time. He worked with me to get the hair I wanted while making sure it suited me. I finally have a hairstyle that feels like me! Lawrence is incredibly talented and kind, I would highly recommend him to anyone. I’ll definitely be booking with him again when I’m back in town.

I’ve gone to Katie Blue twice now for fantasy color and both times I’ve been thrilled with the results! Anna is amazing I show her vague pictures of what I am looking for and she comes out with these fantastic colors! The first time I will say my hair faded very quickly, but the second time I went a bit darker and more purple and its lasted! She is also super sweet and I thoroughly enjoy just talking with her! Will definitely go back again when I want some new color!
