Critical: ProfessionalismI called and made an appointment 3 days prior to today which is Sunday at 12noon to get my daughter’s hair braided for her Senior portraits. I arrived on time and the two ladies in the Kadiza’s shop said they were busy and I said I made an appoint to get my daughter’s hair braided for today at noon. Then they replied ” can I come tomorrow” my response was no I have to go to work. I am a new customer I called twice before my scheduled 12 noon appointment today. It was unprofessional to not call and say we are backed up can you reschedule your appointment. No apology for wasting me and my daughters time. No apology for being unorganized and being prepared for my appointment. Poor customer service. I will not recommend this shop to anyone. The only reason I chose this shop is because a work colleague recommended this shop. I arrived on time and the two ladies in the Kadiza’s shop said they were busy and I said I made an appoint to get my daughter’s hair braided for today at noon. Went back next day to be loosened and she ripped up some of my cornrows causing my hair to fall out. Terrible beware of this place they dont care about our hair and they are to rough. I called 4 days in advance to ask do they do Butterfly locs. They said yes and I had to buy the hair. I called them while I was at the hair store and they told me what kind of hair to bring.

If you want bad service this is the place. My braids fell out, they had no hair pins to put it on the style that i requested and it stinks in there. The girl spoke little English but kept saying yes like she understood me. When she was finished I had empty spots with no hair and other spots with too much hair. This wasn’t a crochet style it was a waste of my time and money. I won’t be back.

When I first got there I didn’t have to sit and wait a long time (good thing) but the lady that started to do my hair was rough and didn’t do the braid that I wanted… so the owner told her to take it out and that she would do the style that I wanted! And she did just that! I was very pleased with the outcome but I’ll be taking Tylenol or ibuprofen before I go back (lol)

Been coming here for years ! I have to say the quality of the braids has stayed consistent! The only thing I will say is they use to braid so tight I would be in pain but the last 4/5 times I’ve come the braids have been painless barely with 0 to no pain ! ( I can’t take tension though ) so believe when I say MS.Khadijiah did my twist so beautiful & I did not have tension ! Received many compliments & everyone in the shop is polite!

I am not the type of person to write a review (in fact, this is my first EVER). In spite of horrible reviews online, I decided I could handle some comfort complaints and that since they charged more for box braids than other stores in the area, it might be worth it. I called on the phone to make an appointment. We agreed on a time, price, style. I was told I would get out of the chair no later than 1 (I’m not new to braids, so I assumed 4:00) and that two people would be braiding my hair. I arrived at my appointment by Uber 30 minutes after the shop opens at my appointment time (I figured even if I could wait inside if they weren’t ready for me), but the store was locked and dark. I had to sit outside in a HORRIBLE neighborhood for 45 minutes waiting for the owner while I was surrounded and cornered up against the shop by men. She finally arrives and I think we are good to go, but no. She sits herself In front of the TV and eats for another 40 minutes while I sit in her FILTHY shop. Finally we get started. I reiterate what was said on the phone, show her a picture for reference (medium/ thick box braids down to my ribs), agree on the price again. She finally gets started around 11:30. Part way through she says she’s actually doing a more expensive price. I have to go to the atm to get cash in this awful neighborhood (my card got shut off for fraud protection) with a section of my hair braided and the rest clipped up. I come back and remind her that I actually wanted bigger braids than the ones she started. She says okay, but continues to ignore my request and the countless other reminders that followed (I don’t think she actually looked at the picture but she constantly reminded me that the picture was more expensive than we said on the phone, even though the braids were much shorter and 4/5 times fewer/ thicker than the ones she gave me). At around 4, I ask for an ETA. I’ve been here since 9 at this point. She is aware from our phone call that I had slight time constraints but says at least 3 more hours. At this point I flip out and WE START FIGHTING! She was delusional enough to believe she had excellent service and was perfectly respectful of her clients’ time. She claimed it was because my braids were thin and long (which I hadn’t asked for and repeatedly tried to correct throughout the appointment). She calls her friends to finally come help because I was getting close to leaving half finished and not paying. They came and talked about me behind my back pretty obviously the whole time, assuming I couldn’t understand all of what they were saying. In the end, I had to go home and cut my own braids because they ended past my butt when I asked for half way down my back so many times. The length she claimed at the end caused the time delay. Also, she left me with ZERO edges so I also had to remove the front row of braids as soon as I got home. Let me tell you, she braided SO TIGHT that my hair was already falling out in clumps when I removed these brand new braids. To make it worse, she kept her ashy, smelly foot elevated inches from my face the whole time and was burping loudly in my ear for the entire appointment. She had the audacity to ask me to recommend her as I practically ran out the door. At least it makes for a great story to tell my friends!
