I booked an appointment to cut my hair. My stylist was Mailyn Marrufo (SENIOR STYLIST). The haircut was $70. My sister thought this place was going to be good because a lot of people get their haircut here. It was my birthday. I booked my appointment at 9:00 AM, but was asked to come in at 10:30 AM. I agreed. Once I got there I was sat down. She had really good energy. She was also doing someone else’s hair on the side. So, she would go back and forth between us which I thought was strange. I felt like it was being rushed. She had someone else wash and shampoo my hair also helped her blow dry my hair. My hair is wavy/curly. Coming in my hair was about midway down my back. I asked to have it cut a little bit because I wanted to keep the length, short layers, and curtain bangs. She told me if I wanted to just do face framing layers just in case I don’t like the bangs. I agreed. She also cut my hair shorter than expected, but I figured it was because my hair was dry. Then she gave me long layers because she told me that if I get short layers it may look like a mullet. That scared me. I’ve had short layers in my hair and I never looked like I’ve had a mullet. She continues to say she does soft layers not choppy layers. I don’t understand who would ask for a choppy layer anyways. She then cuts my hair. My hair is now above my breast. My “face layering” was definitely disappointing. I felt like she only did one side. I could barely see any layers AT ALL. So, I went in thinking that I was going to get a totally different haircut. I had very high expectations as well! The curling wasn’t so bad, but once I got home and straightened it I saw a lot of flaws. She may have shown it to me before I left the shop, but she said I wasn’t able to see the layers because my hair was too dark. But I see no layers at all. Also, some parts were uneven. I tried texting her for a refund because I didn’t feel comfortable going back into that salon. The reason I didn’t want to go back to her was because that’s embarrassing for one. I have major social anxiety. And two, she told me that I would look like I would have a mullet if I get short layers because of my poofy hair. She texted me saying I wanted a free haircut, called me rude and blocked me. I was not rude at all. I have all the text messages of me going back and forth with her trying to explain why I don’t want to go back in. I also told her to keep the tip just for her time because she was cool and all, but overall it was not a great experience. I tipped her $30. I would not get my hair done by her if I were you.

Took 5 1/2 hours for a trim and half a head of highlights. Should not take more than 3-4 hours from past experience at other salons. My stylist was sweet but she kept leaving to do another person’s hair while she was doing mine which was frustrating and I felt like she was distracted most of the time. Spent close to $500 so I expected to have better service than this! Disappointing.

Had a really great experience with Layla, a newer stylist. I had a foilayage refresh, root smudge (ugh greys!) and dusting cut. It took a whopping 4 hours but I have long hair, so it was only a little longer than usual and 100% worth the time and price. I’ll definitely be going back to JV Salon. The environment is amazing and if you have Instagram, you’ll see that these girls are talented and fun 🙂 Mahalo Layla!

I had a really good experience. After not visiting a salon for 2 years due to the pandemic, it was time for a much needed cut. I called and everything was seamless from there – I had an appointment confirmed, follow up call and all I did was show up to leave with a new style. I specifically asked for a stylist accustomed to very long and thick hair and they met my expectations. Clean space. A younger, maybe more “hip” place than I am accustomed to but definitely satisfied with my cut and the attention I received.

Always a good experience when I get my hair done here. The only improvement I think can be would be the furniture. Waiting a couple hours for the color and toner, with no proper seat cushioning can be a tad uncomfortable.

Just had an appointment today with Ursula and she was amazing! Not only did JV Salon send me a reminder email, and a text THEN the hair stylist also sent me a text! Talk about customer service! Ursula also asked if I wanted to come in earlier! She was so nice and gave me 100% of her attention! I wish I found this salon sooner! Totally recommend to everyone!
