Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueAround 10 years ago, I moved back to Los Angeles and struggled for a couple years to find someone that could manage my hair. I luckily stumbled across Justin Harding via word of mouth when he worked at Southpaw in Silverlake. Having been through many traumatic hair experiences, I drove 1-hour each way to see Justin at Southpaw and would do it all over again. Luckily for me, he opened his own space at Salon Republic in West Hollywood and I now see Justin every 3-weeks where Justin always makes sure I’m taken care of. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair and he has innate sense of what the client wants and what would work best with the client’s face shape and general style. He is always on the cutting-edge of hair trend and has been trained by some of the best stylists in the world (he’s even traveled across the globe to continue his learnings and teach others). I’ve never met someone more meticulous about their craft, hair or otherwise. It is truly inspiring and I genuinely look forward to seeing Justin every month. His space is welcoming and bright and he listens to anything you have to say, whether it’s about your hair or how you’re feeling today. He will go out of his way to make you feel and look your best. A true renaissance man. It is incredibly common for Justin to be booked months in advance, which is a testament to how many people trust and rely on Justin for their barbering needs. My advice to any potential new client is to be patient and book when you see an opening. Once you are a client, Justin makes rescheduling and waitlisting seamless direct with him via email. Around 10 years ago, I moved back to Los Angeles and struggled for a couple years to find someone that could manage my hair. I luckily stumbled across Justin Harding via word of mouth when he worked at Southpaw in Silverlake. I have thick, long, wavy hair and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to cut it. Justin listens to what I want, and then delivers. Justin is the only person who gets to cut my hair. I’ve been his client for the last 8 years. I have thick, long, wavy hair and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to cut it. Justin listens to what I want, and then delivers. Also, he offers helpful tips on maintenance between appointments and makes it a point to deeply condition my hair before we even start. Critical: ProfessionalismBe warned, even with an appointment booked months in advance, service is NOT guaranteed.Booked two months in advance, the week of the appointment I sent an email confirming and received no response, two days before I called and left a voicemail and received no response.The day of I showed up to the location as I didn’t want to be charged a no-show. Justin came out, walked me into his space, sat me down and asked me what we were doing to my hair. As I was talking about it, he interrupted me, asked me for my name and then said he had booked another customer at the same time and he meant to ‘reach out’ to me to cancel/move.He apologized claiming some personal health reasons, though that wouldn’t have stopped him from reaching out in time to do the cancel/move to avoid the embarrassment. I felt very humiliated having being led in to get ready and then kicked out because of his double booking.He told me he would reach out the following week to rebook, but never did. People’s time is valuable and this experience was very unprofessional. Critical: Professionalism, PunctualityI wouldn’t trust Justin for anything. He is so unprofessional and ignores my attempts to reach out to get service. Also, his studio claims to be closed temporarily during covid, but he’s still there seeing clients on the DL.
