Positive: Cleanliness, ProfessionalismFirst, let me start by saying that 50 or more percent of these issues were caused by the fact that my loooong thick hair was a mess!! I had been ill three months (nothing to do with Covid so don’t worry, the salon is clean and professional). In these months, my husband and I tried to keep my hair brushed and braided but after some weeks I was in pain in bed.End result, tangles and matts.We tried EVERYTHING but finally it was a huge matt in the back and for the first time in years we had to go to a salon.When the cosmetologist saw how bad it was she told hubby and me that because I had so much hair, she could still keep it looking pretty long in the back but she’d have to cut our the major tangle. Ok no problem.He goes to wait and WITHOUT washing and CONDITIONING or using detangler on my hair AT ALL, which would have made more than half the tangles go away, she started cutting my hair DRY until it was above my shoulders!Only then I got washed/ conditioned before she CONTINUED chopping more off. Other stylists were telling her ways I could walk out of there with some semblance of my identity but she was more concerned with her next appointment, mentioned MANY times. She only had an hour for me, though I explained the extreme issues plus probable time it might take. Yet I let it be known I was prepared to pay for this. I was treated as a who cares one time stranger instead of really weIcomed yet I expected this since when I scouted the place I was told they were great to regulars but not so hot with newbies.I went anyway in case I needed a new little out of the way place to have much needed privacy. You’re only a first timer ONCE but I should have tipped FIRST to show her I am not a bum or hobo. I’m kind of in disguise and looking for a nice, discreet place and a professional to be loyal to and that could be you and here.I even started to mention why but she either thought I was lying or didn’t hear me. I hope the latter. She was by no means mean, rude, unkind, and if having a drink in a pub, I would probably fancy her as a drinking mate. She was just very professional… to her next client. Wanting to be done with me for them in time. So professional that she didn’t listen or realise she was working on the hair of a genuine heir ….. or better put, a titled Lady.After she got my hair 80 percent in the trash, my only beauty, my one bit of rebellion left the shortest it’s been since my second birthday…. it was time to go. PROBLEM I hinted at a couple times…. My hair has ALWAYS been past shoulders to belly button (yes I’ve tried to give it to locks of love and others)She is done yet NEVER SHOWS ME WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO STYLE THIS ATROCITY OF BALL OF LAUGHABLY DAFT “KAREN” HAIR!!!I’ve no hairdresser so I alone taught myself how to do updos and plaits and other styles taught as a child when my long hair WAS styled by a professional. But short hair?? What do I do??? Hello??I go to pay and instead of the 50 percent tip, I only gave her 25 and actually felt BAD AND GUILTY about it but we could have cut off all my bloody hair alone at home and have me cry 23 hours solid afterwards all by ourselves and had more pocket money.Let me stress, I’m withholding her name because I’m -certain- she’s a great colourist, stylist, etc.etc. I would have a lower star for this visit, and not because I wasn’t given a slight bow and treated as my rank usually promises… but I was not even treated like a welcomed future regular client!!HOWEVER, the 4 stars are because thus: She was by all accounts a hair dresser trying to get her financial life back on the rails as we all are. She could be a mother and needed that tip from the woman she KNEW, not realising I also had a 50 dollar tip for her bad job.
