My husband wanted to get my hair done for pictures before his deployment. The staff was amazing and fit me in to an already busy schedule. Estelle was amazing and so was Mariam. I loved the atomphere they created. I felts cared for and heard. They gave me the style my husband wanted and it was worth every penny. But wasn’t super expensive especially given that it was last minute. I will be returning soon and will be asking for Estelle. She completed my look and all while educating me in ways to make my hair healthier as she worked.

I’ve been coming to the salon for years. Love the staff and stylists. They are all friendly and welcoming. The stylists I see are very knowledgeable about styles in interested in. More importantly, living with a well did damage to my hair, they were able to address my issues. If you want a fun weave, you don’t have to head to DC or Baltimore, you can have that service done at the Salon.

It was clear she did not know how to do it, but worked on my daughter’s hair anyway. My daughter was extremely upset with the results. We determined JCPenney Salon was not the place to have it corrected. We wanted a refund to have it corrected elsewhere, was denied, but was offered to have her come it to have it corrected (with a small fee!). I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND you gamble with this salon. They have very good hair stylist, however when it comes to making sure you have an appointment their customer service not very well handled. Most salons send out email confirmations about your appointment but jc penny doesn’t. And when you call just to verify those who pick up have an attitude with you and leave you on hold for a while. They for got to schedule my appointment even when I called them to verify.

They try their best to a accommodate walk in appointments ( my appt was w/in an hour). FYI a ” wash and set” isn’t the same as a wash and rod/roller set. Be clear about what service you need as there may be a price difference. Otherwise, it’s clean and quiet.

Went two days in a row to have my sons haircut into a Mohawk and the first time was told by Chakia “I don’t know how to do that” and was then scheduled for the next day with ,Christine,someone who supposedly does. Got there today and it was quite apparent when I walked in to be told she hadn’t gotten there yet but she has an appt in 15 mins that she most likely wouldn’t be showing up so I can’t fault her for that(management should have been on top of that once they realized who I was coming to see)However I can fault them for knowing she wasn’t coming and then just letting me sit there. Then I start hearing whispers about why she isnt there and no one knows how to cut a Mohawk or “hasn’t done them in awhile” Then referring me somewhere else which should have been done when I first walked in coupled with an apology. Should’ve never giving them another chance after they burned my scalp a few years ago:(
