The first time I tried to get a beard trim buzz cut the owner had left the shop with the OPEN sign in the window. I tried calling but nobody picked up. He called me an our later even though I didn’t leave a message so neither of us knew who the other was nor did he say why he might be calling. After a moment of hearing him just breathing into the telephone I figured out it was the owner of JA’s. Since it was late and I had left the area I decided to come in the next day instead. I called again the next morning to make sure he hadn’t strayed away from his shop during his listed open hours and was quoted for $25 all included. Upon arriving, I asked if he took cards since I had no cash on me to which he gave me a rambly answer about how his squared doesn’t work. I asked where the closest ATM was and he couldn’t give me a direct answer to that either. After walking two blocks I found an ATM and pulled out the money for my trim. When he was finished and I was ready to settle up I gave him $40 as $20 dollar bills is all I had. He then told me he couldn’t break my $20 bills which left me having to leave him $15 over the $25 I had been quoted. I planned on leaving a tip but my trim wasn’t worth the hoops the owner of JA’s had me jumping through. I’m disappointed in the owners business practices. Reviews have helped me in the past so I’m surprised I was the first to leave an unsatisfactory one. I hope I can keep someone from making the mistake I did getting a trim at JA’s.
