Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueAfter trying 5 other salons in Raleigh and being sorely disappointed with service and/or results, I was ready to just let my nails be the weak things they generally are. I moved to Raleigh a little more than a year ago and was beginning to think a great nail salon was like a unicorn.Today I walked in to J&A Nail Spa at 5:00pm without making an appt. I was greeted immediately and asked to sanitize my hands and sign in. Everyone was properly masked. Covid precautions are taken seriously here, which I appreciated so much.I was looking at colors for maybe 5 minutes when Sean came to bring me back to his station. My nails were in terrible shape. I had peeled the last gel manicure off… not smart. Sean reviewed the photos I showed him of the nail shape and length I preferred. He did things in a different order than what other salons had done, but I was going to wait and let the professional do what he thought best. He took an extra step to help strengthen my nails before applying the acrylic, and explained why he was doing it.I was a little concerned as the layers of acrylic were applied. I have large hands for a woman, and it isn’t too difficult to make them look worse with giant, thick nails. I did not complain or point it out… he seemed to be very comfortable with what he was doing. My worries were quickly eased when Sean began literally carving beautiful, smooth nails from the lumps that had initially been placed. I appreciated how meticulously he worked. I dislike rushed manicures, and was very happy that he cared enough to continue to work on my nails until he was happy with the end result. I was happy with it, too!When it was done, my nails were 1000 times better looking than they had been in over a year. I am so pleased. Sean and his family are very pleasant and professional. The salon is immaculate. I am so happy I took a chance on them.
