I’ve been a client of Michael’s for about 7 years, which should say something! Yes, I’ve tried other therapists, but once I found Michael I felt like I’d found about 10 therapists in one. He has the most peaceful and professional demeanor and knows his stuff. I originally went to him for sports/deep tissue massage, and have kept going back because the breadth of his knowledge is amazing. He knows an incredible amount about musculature & how to treat various issues. Case in point, I have lower back pain and have had flare-ups that are related to tight muscles from running or lifting. He has been able to identify the culprit muscles (e.g. psoas, which runs from the inner thigh through the abdomen to connect to the spine) and work on loosening those so I don’t have referral pain in the spine. When my chiro recently told me I strained a multifidus muscle in spine, I relayed this info to Michael who went on to refresh his education on this. He loves learning and you can tell, as he will eagerly tell you exactly what he is doing and why. Sometimes the therapy is tough, but it IS therapy & I feel heaps better after. He just as frequently does relaxing massages, such as lymphatic drainage, using body temp oils (often with aromatherapy) and long sweeping strokes. I think I’ve fallen asleep, but can’t be sure. I know he offers other services such as bamboosage (which sounds so cool!), and I have yet to try them. Overall he’s just amazing, which is why I’ve stuck with him for so long. I cannot recommend Michael highly enough!
