The shop, staff, time it took, and price were great however my hair was not. I have been getting braids for almost two decades & never had my hair done this poorly. The hair was not blended properly, the length of each braid varies drastically from one to another, & the braids were not looped or started correctly so they are protruding from head. Will not be returning.

Critical: QualityI would caution you to NEVER go to this place. Do not waste your money or time. I went there a couple of weeks ago and had by far one of the worst experiences. The girl that did my hair made the boxes in the bag of my hair a lot bigger than the rest of my braids without telling or asking me and the parts were NOT straight and different sizes (the front row). I went back and forth with the owner who did not appear to understand and informed me that the reason that the boxes were bigger in the back is because I didn’t want my hair “heavy.” I would caution anyone to not come here, there are plenty of talented braiders and Traci is NOT one of them. I hope this saves you from what I went through.I would caution you to NEVER go to this place. Do not waste your money or time. The girl that did my hair made the boxes in the bag of my hair a lot bigger than the rest of my braids without telling or asking me and the parts were NOT straight and different sizes (the front row). Upon arrival the reception here was very unwelcoming and unprofessional. After being in the chair for 30 minutes I was asked to wait while my braider wanted to complete another walk-in person. Eventually another employee was kind enough to finish braiding my hair although my original braider never returned to me. I also witnessed employee ripping phone-in customers behind their back. The owner was asleep in her chair most of the time. The kicker here was that I was quoted a different and higher price only after braiding was complete. I should’ve known better than that. I decided never to return here and chalk it up, but after hair braids started falling out 2 days after the hair glue wore off, I was prompted to post my Horrible experience, and purchase a head wrap until my next braid.

I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately I had to walk out. Huge miscommunication, I was told by someone in the shop that hair was included, when I provided my own hair, they still tried to charge me more. The hair braider I spoke with over the phone told me 3pm, at 4pm she still wasn’t there giving orders over the phone and trying to charge more for a service she wasn’t even there for to deliver. UNPROFESSIONAL, choose another shop! They will RIP YOUR HAIR OUT, with the ragged comb they are using. I couldn’t believe the quality of the comb and how many missing pieces their comb had.

Great price and service.. Fatima does a great job, she’s very gentle, quick and takes her work very seriously.. She has done my hair twice and I love it this time just as much as the last time.. Definitely recommend getting your braids done here the other women there do a great job too..

I have to preface this review by saying I am extremely picky when it comes to my hair. I moved to California from NC and I’ve had the same braider and same stylist a total of 12 years (since I left home for college)…this is how loyal and picky I am Lol – when I got to Cali I had so much trouble trying to find someone to braid my hair that met my price pt, had good reviews, & clean work. Being in LA there are so many options but I kept running into hangups (hidden pricing fees, no appts for weeks out, high deposit for appts etc). I finally ran across “African braids, By Bousso” & made an appt. The morning of my appt I got stuck in SO much traffic (welcome to LA) I ended up running behind by almost two hrs. I reached out and Bousso told me she couldn’t keep my appt (understandably) but she told me to call her Mom at her shop and see if they could fit me in. I called and her Mom said she was gonna see and call me back. She called me back w/in 5 mins and told me to come on because she had someone to braid my hair. Now, I was naturally skeptical. I had searched all this time and found someone I was ready to have do my hair and now was being thrown into an iffy situation last minute. But at this point my hair was CRAZY so it was braid it or chop it off, there were no other options LOL and I already brought all my hair so I was just gonna chance it – anyway I got to the shop and let me tell y’all…first of all it is in a very nice & clean location..I didn’t feel unsafe in my environment. When I walked into the shop it was very neat and clean and smelled nice, and my braider was there. Her name was Adelyne. I told her and Bousso’s Mom what I wanted and they conferred for a minute or so and then put me in the chair. Adelyne was so patient. She did the first two braids and was sure to ask me if it was the right size and if it was too tight. We got the size correct and she got to work. She was steady paced, and very thorough. I got medium sized, hip length (top of my butt) ombre box braids. With the braids being so long she still only took 4 hrs to get through my big ole head. It took an extra 20 minutes to finish them up (clean the braids up & dip them). My braids are BEAUTIFUL and I still have all of my edges. ♀️ ♀️ Adelyne was sweet, & fast, with a soft touch, and good manners (she wasn’t talking loud or eating over me etc). Last but not least, when we were done I got my bag to get my card (cause I never think to carry cash anywhere anymore since CashApp and Zelle work for everything) and realized my whole entire wallet was at home!!! (Over an hr away) – I was panicking and Adelyne said she’d call the owner (Bousso’s Mom) and figure it out, cause they only take cash and I can’t even go to an ATM at this pt. She was so great & allowed me to Zelle her and include my tip for Adelyne. I was so grateful. I got such great service from start to finish, the women were all so kind and my hair turned out BOMB!! Icing on the cake? When I was leaving I noticed Adelyne cleaning everything down. I mean with bleach! Amazing service AND clean!? I’m definitely coming back!! I know this was long but Image of Africa really made an impression on me. AND (no lies) I get a compliment on my braids every single day when I’m out and about. Thank you!!! – Make sure y’all ask for Adelyne!!

I was very impressed with my Senelese twists done by Addilene & Tracy. It took only 5 hours for waist length style. They also supply the hair which is great for “newbies” like me. I’m totally happy without any complaints.
