I debated with myself on writing this review because I really liked Kandi, the owner & I feel she did a great job on my hair (SBF natural hair), the 1st time I came into the shop. It was pretty, she handled my natural hair well & after I kept the press in for about 5 days I washed my hair & everything was good.

I came in for a wash, deep condition and a flat twist style. Shaquita was the one who did my hair. Overall, my experience was okay. However, I did not appreciate how rough she was detangling and handling my hair. Shaquita was very heavy-handed and it literally felt like my hair was being yanked. I could feel my strands breaking and ripping because she also used the smallest toothed-comb (which is an absolute no no when detangling 4c natural hair). When I asked if she could use conditioner and a wider comb to detangle my hair I was told it was necessary in order to achieve the style I wanted. Overall, I probably will just stick to doing my own hair because I realize most stylists don’t know how to do natural thick hair yet alone handle styling it with care and gentleness.

I love this place. Kandi has a work ethic that I appreciate more than I can say. Finally an ethnic shop with professional attitude and skills. When I walked into this quaint little shop I was treated with respect and hospitality. There weren’t multiple people on my head and I didn’t have to wait for anything. My appointment started when it was scheduled to start and ended in a very reasonable time. Everyone has been raving about my hair and I love it too. Tisha did a fabulous job. I regret that I didn’t leave her a bigger tip. I won’t make that mistake again. I will recommend this place to any and everyone I know who is looking for a professional and skillful salon with friendly and welcoming people.

I am a big fan of this shop. Friendly staff and I always leave a satisfied customer. Very capable of working with a variety of different hair textures and styles natural and relaxed hair with ease. Kandi helped me transition my fairly long and very thick hair from relaxed to natural with no issues. I was very concerned about extreme breakage from the transitioning horror stories I’d read, and Kandi did an excellent job of relieving those fears. She has also walked me through styling my own hair, so I can be confident thy my hair will look good even on weeks that I don’t come to the shop. I appreciate a shop that cares as much about the health of your hair as it does the style of the hair. Very happy I found this salon!

If I could give zero stars I would. I was recommended to this salon. I called twice and left a message. My call was returned by the receptionist. I told her exactly what I wanted and when. She told me to send her pictures of the style and she would call me right back. I sent the pictures on Tuesday at 5pm. The receptionist ( Kandi’s sister) didn’t text me back until 10pm that night. The next day I had questions regarding the price because it just didn’t seem right. I asked her to call me instead of texting. She said she would have Kandi call me. The whole day went by without a call. On Thursday morning I text the receptionist again asking when I should expect the call from Kandi and she writes back “what am I having her call you for” like she had no reference of our text conversation from the previous day. I send her a screenshot of literally our last text exchange where she said she would have kandi call me. She then responds asking if I’m ready to book. I text her telling her, yes I am but I would like to finalize the price and style before doing so and if she could call me instead of texting. She then asks me to call her, weird but whatever, I call her. She is rude, says that’s the price Kandi told her and she’s just the receptionist. So I understand that completely so I ask her to hace kandi call me like she originally suggested. She then tells me Kandi is too busy to call me and if I wanted to walk in and talk to her i could. I told her that is unreasonable because I work full time and that’s the last thing I’m trying to do after work when this could be a conversation. I then proceed to ask if there’s even any availability on Saturday or Sunday. This lady tells me no. She knew from our very 1st call when I was looking for a style, that’s when she should have told me there was no availability. Instead she wasted my time and when I asked her why she didn’t tell me this sooner she said she doesn’t know people’s schedule. I don’t understand what her purpose as a salon receptionist is then if she doesn’t know the stylist schedules. She then hung up on me. I’ve never stepped foot in this salon and I never will. And I recommend you don’t either unless you want to get treated like they’re doing your hair for free while overcharging.
