My boss recommended Mariah when my normal barber was out sick. I normally don’t trust my hair to just anyone. Mariah was very professional and laid back. She made my first visit feel like I’ve been going there for years. She paid attention to every detail and was truly committed to cutting my hair just as I described how I wanted it. I highly recommend Mariah to anyone who needs a great hairstylist. I’ve been going to the same barbershop for the last six years. I’d walk in and he knew how to cut my hair the way I liked it. My boss recommended Mariah when my normal barber was out sick. I normally don’t trust my hair to just anyone. Mariah was very professional and laid back. She made my first visit feel like I’ve been going there for years. Critical: ProfessionalismI called to schedule an appt for my 4 year old son and was able to get in the same day, which was great! I made sure to let the gentleman on the phone know that my son is mixed so I specifically asked that whoever cuts his hair knows how to cut/work with his type of hair as it can be difficult. I was assured the barber he was scheduled with could do it. We walked in and it was extremely cramped as there were probably close to 15 people in the tiny building, which wasn’t that big of a deal. My son has always gone to the same barber since he was a year old, but he couldn’t get him in before the holidays so my son was really nervous and a little scared. I believe the girl who cut his hair name was Brittany. She was very sweet to him and made conversation with him. The other girl who was there is where my biggest issue comes from. She was standing at the register and kept acting like my son was annoying her for talking as much as he was. At one point Brittany and I were talking and I heard the other girl say, “Why do you keep looking at me?!” to him. That immediately proved to me this was not a place that needs to be cutting young children’s hair, but since they are, I think some training on how to treat children would be beneficial. The haircut itself wasn’t that great and I have to take my son to a different barbershop today to have it fixed because I don’t want to spend one more minute in there as my son and I both were extremely uncomfortable due to the other employee. I still tipped Brittany 30% because she was very good to my son and talked him through every step of the process, so that I appreciate.
