This barber shop provides great haircuts all for 12 dollars, only two downsides are the wait, theres never a terribly long wait, ive never waited more than 15 minutes. The other issue they do not accept credit cards, only cash or checks. Other than those two factors this is a terrific place to get your next haircut. Photo included is from the waiting room. Not pictured is four barbers all with clients and one other person waiting for a trim.

To be fair, when asked “what’ll it be today?”, i was a bit ambiguous. Have said the same thing to numerous barbers over the years and came out fine. I asked to have my hair trimmed/cleaned up. She started with mini battery powered clippers on parts of my hair sticking out from “bed head”. I have NEVER been tempted to get up and leave before during a hair cut until this time. The cut got even weirder and i was tempted to say “stop.” She said she wasn’t familiar with mens hair cuts (now i’m in full blown panic mode). The cut was inconsistent even in areas where it should have been evenly trimmed. It was BAD!!! My wife, who has no training whatsoever in hair cutting, was able to fix the uneven, bizzarro hack job i received. Don’t go here. Save yourself.

Probably the worst haircut experience I’ve ever had. Solid 45 minute wait, although that was understandable as there was only one woman there. Haircut was only $12, so I wasn’t expecting much, but I expected better than what I got. During the haircut, my haircutter was very unpleasant and decided to share her political views with me, that wearing masks were for “sheep” they’re about “control” COVID is a “hoax” etc etc etc. On top of that, there was a Trump 2020 dollar bill hanging on the wall. But I could have accepted that if I’d gotten an acceptable haircut. Instead, I got an uneven, choppy, bizarre looking disaster. I tried to ask for a change in the most polite way possible to no avail. Ended up having to get it fixed after. Terrible experience, would not reccomend.

I usually just buzz my own hair at home but I stopped at this barber shop because I was pressed for time. The staff was very friendly. I received an awesome haircut and they even trimmed my beard. I don’t think I will be cutting my own hair anymore after seeing the outcome. I will definitely return.

I’ve lived in Ellsworth off and on over the past ten years bouncing between Alaska and here. and I’ve gone to these folks when I’m off contract with some very unruly mops on my head. These folks know their way around both scissors and clippers. Have had a few different stylists and styles done to my hair and they all seem to come with the girlfriend stamp of approval. Just remember to bring cash or check so they can keep the price to a low 12 bucks! Thanks high st barber!

I’m a seasonal worker and have been to High Street Barber shop twice, on both occasions Richelle cut my hair, she’s excellent!!!!! Best haircuts I’ve received in years!
