Critical: Professionalism, QualityI had an appointment today with Nate. Honestly, I’ve never left a salon feeling so disappointed.I called Haven salon a couple of weeks ago to ask if they had a stylist who knew how to work with curly hair. The rep I spoke with said that this stylist specifically was excellent with curly hair and had lots of experience.The appointment was going well up until the point of the cut and styling. Or lack of styling. I provided a photo for reference. He said no problem that it was very do-able. Ok great! I’m feeling really hopeful and excited. He was very nice and reassuring.We get to styling. He literally told me after cutting my hair — that he did not have enough time to style my hair (a first for me at any hair cut/styling appointment I’ve ever had). I was shocked he was going to let me leave with sopping wet hair. I asked if he could at least dry my curls with the diffuser so I can at least see what the cut looks like before leaving. I mean.. that’s fair right? To know what the haircut looks like???After flipping my head over so he could use the diffuser — and then after seeing myself in the mirror I was so upset. Frizzy and GIANT. I’m a living topiary. It looked like I stuck a finger in an electric socket. Nothing at all like the photos I provided.He proceeds to tell me that he doesn’t know how to style curly hair and that I should just style it how I like at home. First of all, if you weren’t confident in styling curly hair… why did you take my appointment?Even after going home and washing… it’s a bit better, but still not great or what I had asked for. Finger curling the strands there are parts where it’s way longer in awkward places… I did ask for layers, but not like this.I have one section of hair on the left side that is totally not matched at all with the right side. It’s uneven and lopsided.You can’t cut naturally curly hair like someone who has straight hair.I just wish he was honest if he wasn’t up for the task.I will never come back.TLDR, here are some pros and cons.Pros:-Beautiful building-Clean inside-Nice that it’s in Spring HillCons:-Covid isn’t a thing here — I was the only person wearing a mask.- Pricing as to what’s advertised online as well as through the receptionist is NOT accurate to what they’ll charge you at the salon.- They don’t have anyone manning the front desk. It’s awkward coming in and having to walk around to see if your stylist is there.- Don’t come here if you’re looking for a good curly cut. You’ll leave looking like the shrubbery or Mrs.FrizzleThis is the first bad review I’ve ever left.
