I was pretty torn about posting a less than grand review since the salon ticked most of the boxes for me upon getting in and overall the haircut I got was a good one. What I am mostly upset about was the lack of consultation that happened prior to my cut which is normally a huge red flag that something will go wrong and it did. It was my first visit and the talk about what I wanted was incredibly fast. Its a straight forward cut and I like a variation at times but I mentioned my big needs and felt confident that I had directly said what I wanted and didn’t want. I had specifically asked for my side burns to not be touched and they were shaped a little bit which was fine but the moment came to shave the sides and away they went. I was pretty crushed in the seat but the point of no return was passed. I made a comment about how I didn’t want them to be touched and I was told they were shaped and pointed for them to grow in. In the chair I could do nothing but accept it and moved on since I liked the rest of my hair I thought it would be fine. I did leave fairly happy and liked my cut although slightly disappointed to lose my burns but once I got home my husband saw that the burns were gone and pointed out that they were also uneven and only one had a real point to them while the other one was more of a straight line and they weren’t even. At the end of the day it’s just hair and truly the upset feelings have subsided but personally for me this is a one and done place. I hate to get so caught up on a seemingly small thing but I felt as if I went in with long hair and asked to have it trimmed and walked out with a pixie cut. Since I had mentioned it and it fell on to deaf ears and what remains leaves a lot to be desired I’m not sure if this the right place for me. I’m left with a nice haircut sure but not what I really wanted and there’s no way to fix it but with time which is always disappointing.

I have been going to Harlow for almost 3 years now. I had been to a million salons and no one could ever give me what I wanted, until I found Harlow. I go to Kelli, the owner, but all of the girls there are super talented and make the salon feel like you’re hanging out with your best friends. They all have amazing relationships with their clients and really listen to what your hair goals are. I moved out of state a year ago and still make the drive back to John’s Island just to get my hair done because I refuse to go anywhere else. Lana has even done my eyebrow lamination on multiple occasions as well! If you’re looking for a salon where you can be yourself, speak your mind, and have a great time with great results, this is your place!

Kyra is the BEST! As soon as I met her, I knew my hair was in great hands. I usually only do a full balayage once a year, and Kyra kills it when it comes to blending. The grow out is seamless and my hair stays healthy. She’s so easy to talk to and really takes to heart your vision for your hair. 10/10 will always recommend Kyra!!! Chynna did a terrific job with washing, trimming, and blowing out my hair. The salon is very spacious and has relaxing environment. There are numerous services available at the salon including waxing, coloring, and installing ro name a few. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and there are wonderful smelling beauty supplies and oils on display for sale.
